Looking for feedback before purchase. Can't find one locally to rent.
Generally have read good reviews, but often compared to a Glock. (I've shot Glocks and don't care for the grip angle).
Also, what sights are you using for cowitness?
Nightstand gun for large hands. Definitely looking at the CZ P10F. Love my Walthers, but as I understand it, the Q4 loses the rear dovetail when a red dot is insalled. (Can someone confirm this?) VP9 is interesting. Maybe M&P Core or a Springfield also. Don't want to go more than about 750...
This thread has given me some ideas on different ways to go. Rather than go to a new platform, I'm looking into milling the slide on my PPX or PPQ and turning that into my co-witness carry gun.
I don't have enough posts to send PMs, so I'll clog the forum. I've looked at doing the P10C, VP9, and a few others with the Shield RMS but don't see a mounting plate for any of them. What did you use? I'd love to see a pic.
Makes sense. I'm assuming that the rear sight will end up raised with this design so it would likely need a suppressor-height front to go with it. I'll do a little digging to see what I can find out.
All - Really appreciate all the EXCELLENT feedback.
- Didn't know there were red dots that worked with standard height sights. Bonus!
- Great points around night sights and laser. Sounds like it will cause more harm than good. I'll have to try out different combos to see what works best...
I've decided to make the leap to red dot on my carry gun, but only if I can still co-witness with the iron sights. The problem is trying to find the right combination of pieces.
Mid-sized Pistol (CZ P10C, HK VP9, Canik TP9, etc)
Co-witness BOTH sights (some guns remove the rear sight to add...
I appreciate the offer, 451, but that's even farther from me. =)
I'm hoping I get lucky and there's something near the Valpo area, or not too far beyond.
I'm stuck in the People's Republic of Illinois, and the closest gun club, that has the flexibility I am looking for, is over 100 miles from my house. A quick jaunt over the border would be a lot quicker.
However...I am looking for something that is not common among ranges. I want a three gun...
All -
I appreciate all the good info. It's funny how life takes you in different directions. But after a couple trips to the range and whole lot of gun renting, my wife and I both really liked the Springfield XDM (.45 ACP version). Recoil was manageable for both of us, and accuracy was...
All, I have learned more from this thread in one day than from the past few weeks of reading different articles and reviews. HUGE THANKS TO YOU ALL!
And sorry I started a flame war...wasn't my intent. =)
