      I've never split a pelvis or needed to, so I get by with the 2.5" blade on an Ingram Trapper. I like using fillet knives for the final butchering but I've never had one that would hold its edge for very long.

      That is how it is. When I was going to the Louisville show there were always IN FFLs set up there who would do handgun transfers right at the show. Some of the bordering gun shops do something similar. I know Whittaker Guns in Owensboro used to have an IN FFL in the shop one day every month.

      I'd also recommend putting your compass nav skills to the test fairly often. In unfamiliar territory it can be tough. I have run the Middle Fork course by Story a couple of times and it is definitely a learning experience.
