I put old scopes I don't normally use on both the 8" Ruger Charger & a Ruger 10/22.

I picked up a Ruger 10/22 last week & had put rounds through it with a red dot it came with but w/o magnification I could barely see at 75' especially when using the smaller blue
    .75" circles.
I used Armscor 36 gr. HP again today.

    75' at 1.75" circles
    * Row 1 & 2: Ruger 10/22 = 100%
Should have been some Cloverleaf patterns at 75' with an 18" barrel.
I was just using a sandbag in front of the trigger for balance, so I was getting movement from my shoulder.
I'll redo this with my sled sometime.
    * Row 3 & 4: 8" Ruger Charger =85%
    Too many fliers.
    03.05.2024 Range wScope on 1.75in cir. at 75ft 85% on 8 circles.jpg

Using 3/4" blue circles this time.
Both guns did poorly with these scopes I was using.
    Row 1 & 2:
    Ruger 10/22 = 80% & 68%
    Last Row:
    8" Ruger Charger = 48%

Had fun picking up a "new" gun from the Classifieds today and taking it to the range immediately afterwards, which is the way I love to do it.

    Smith & Wesson 617-6, 4", 10 rd, SS w/Wood grips.
Put a drop of oil in all the right places, then put a quick 140 rounds through it on two targets.

21' at 1.75" circles using Armscor 36 grain, HP, HV, SCN
I didn't expect the 617 with its 4" barrel to shoot as well as two older model 17-2 & 17-4 that I had, but I was down to only have 1 revolver, which constitutes a need! :lmfao:
I've been wanting a 6" SW 617, but they don't become available often.
I'll try different ammo next time to see if I can tighten up groups.

I saw that 617-6 in the classifieds , nice acquisition! That 17-4 is a beauty too! Good shooting with the 17-2! Both of my 617s (4" 617-1 and 6" 617-5) shoot well with CCI Std. Vel. With my eyesight they both have red dots as do most of my handguns used for target shooting.

Since it wasn't a 6" barrel, I looked at it everyday before I gave myself permission. :lmfao:
I am a sucker for SS & wood! :rockwoot:

And, yes, I should have held onto the SW 17-4 I got from Snorko, it was near perfect
    & had the three "Ts."
Me & my blasted "trimming" modes. :wallbash:
Hasn't worked out too well for me the past year anyway.
No matter how many I sell,
I find more to buy.

I'm trying to pare down to just permanent keepers, but it's a moving target (pun intended).
I'll find one I intended to play with but then I can't let it go. :dunno:

The SW 17-2 was shooter grade.
Couldn't find targets with the 17-4 on the 1.75" circles for a direct comparison.
After switching computers, I can't find alot of my older photos.

I can't wait to test the 617-6 I got today with several brands of ammo to see which will tighten up groups.
    I want to get 100% on at least 1 row (5/5 x4).
My accurate guns can do that for a whole page: the PERMANENT KEEPERS, haha!

    You have a 4" & a 6" 617.
Has it been your experience the the 6" delivers better groups for you, or essentially the same?

The 6" 617 has been the most accurate of any revolver I have owned, rimfire or centerfire. The only rimfire revolver that can shoot scores on par with my Smith 41 or Ruger MKIIs or 22/45

My 4" 617 is still fairly accurate and the balance is about perfect for me.

2nd range day with SW 617-6, 4", 10 rd with 5 brands of ammo.
I great revolver to look and and to hold in the hand, but not as accurate as the two 6" I've had where I could get 100% on some rows.

Scores last Friday with Armscor in DA & SA:
    75%, 75%, 75% & 70% (74% avg)
    5/5 circles x3 of 16 circles/19%

    Today:
    Federal AutoMatch: D/A = 60% & S/A = 90% (75% avg) & (5/5 circles x2 of 8 circles/25%)
    Aguila SE: D/A = 75% & S/A = 73% (74% avg) & (5/5 circles x1 of 8 circles/13%)
    CCI AR Tactical: D/A = 80% & S/A = 75% (78% avg) & (5/5 circles x1 of 8 circles/13%)
    Winchester Super X: D/A = 70% & S/A = 75% (73% avg) & (5/5 circles x1 of 8 circles/13%)
    CCI Mini-Mags: D/A = 85% & S/A = 90% (88% avg) & (5/5 circles x3 of 8 circles/38%)

I wondered if some of the flyers today were b/c I should have cleaned it after last Friday?
I repented & did clean it when done today.
Will see if I can get more 5/5 & some consistent 90-ish % with the Eley.

doddg , here is one you should remember! Have not shot it much in a while until recently. Had installed a Tandemkross trigger and did not care for it at all and it just sat in the safe. Finally got the motivation to reinstall the original trigger a few weeks ago.

Then I thought it would be nice to really see how accurate the Victory is compared to my other 22 pistols that I have scope tested in the past. Had this Burris 2X that I bought in the 1990s so hopefully this weekend I'll sight in and shoot a few groups.

I have had so many Smith Victorys.
    Always paid $275 - $325.
    Love the metal.
But, I always end up selling them b/c they just couldn't keep up with the others.
Having a scope would be great though!

In like manner, I've never kept the Ruger Mark 4s that I've had.
But, the last one I put a red dot on and it shoots well enough that I've kept it since Oct 2022, but it isn't on my "keeper" list yet.
We'll see if it holds up for a year, haha!

    3 pistols at range today:
    - Ruger Charger 8" with inexpensive red dot installed & dialed it in at 30 & 45' x100 rds.
    - SW 41 1980s, put a NaStar 4x32 scope on it. 30' x100 rds.
    - 2nd Kel-Tec CP33; love my 1st one I bought 9/2022. Good trigger & accuracy.
I intend just use the fiber optic sights.
Don't have a range pic b/c spent most of the time with it adjusting sights.
It was nailing the 3/4" blue squares at the end of 125 rds.

Used Armscor 36 grain HP SLN except in the SW 41 where used CCI SV.

    Ruger Charger 8" @ 30' & 45' on 1.75" circles.
Wanted to go to 75' but I've done it already & I needed to get home.
Plan to sell it, but it's so accurate I might have to play with it a bit longer.
Running it beside the regular 10" is my idea of fun.
