I don't think it implies any sympathy.
I don't see what they are supposed to call her besides "widow".
    "Wife of the deceased terrorist"?

We're still glossing over the fact that the ***** was planning the attacks with him.

Update in Noor Salman trial: The defense is calling for a mistrial after just learning Omar Mateen’s father was an FBI informant

    DZNZXMeX4AEr5K4.jpg:large

So it turns out his dad worked for the US government, with the FBI, and provided funds to "unknowns" in Afghanistan and Turkey?

That's so weird, because from the news I got the impression he was simply a "lone wolf" that hated homosexuals.

Foreman: Jury 'convinced' Noor Salman knew Mateen was plotting attack, but couldn't convict - Orlando Sentinel

Having said that, I want to make several things very clear. A verdict of not guilty did NOT mean that we thought Noor Salman was unaware of what Omar Mateen was planning to do. On the contrary we were convinced she did know. She may not have known what day, or what location, but she knew. However, we were not tasked with deciding if she was aware of a potential attack. The charges were aiding and abetting and obstruction of justice. I felt the both the prosecution and the defense did an excellent job presenting their case. I wish that the FBI had recorded their interviews with Ms. Salman as there were several significant inconsistencies with the written summaries of her statements. The bottom line is that, based on the letter of the law, and the detailed instructions provided by the court, we were presented with no option but to return a verdict of not guilty.”

FBI has a credibility problem. Wonder why.

I've sat on juries like this where evidence was there to prove guilt but based on letter of the law, charges and instructions you couldn't convict. I was young and believed in the system. That WON'T happen again. Of course that will get me knocked out of the pool long before the trial ever starts so it will never be an issue.

Isn’t it weird that when the feds want to try to stretch the law to mean something new, they pick a case like this one? Or, when they want to force Apple to unlock phones, they use the San Bernardino case (while lying about it).Or if they want to pay private companies to trespass on your computer, it’s only to stop child pornographers.

Do we really want to make Obama’s “see something say something” a criminal statute?
