DNR confirms black bear in Harrison county, Indiana

Supposedly in Pekin a couple days ago according to this Facebook post with photo.

Coming back east down 64 yesterday morning I saw a couple of DNR vehicles pulled off of the interstate and parked.....This whole weekend up at the shack had an extra element of excitement but alas no bear was sighted....

Just west of Marengo on the east bound lane......In five years I had never seen a DNR truck parked by the road and saw two Monday morning at about 9:30 am or so....

We laugh now.... but you know it's a possibility. This story reminds me of one a few years ago in Ohio when a bear strolled into a southern Columbus suburb and climbed a tree. He was just hanging out and caused quite a stir. If I remember the story correctly the officials bribed the bear down with chicken nuggets, suckered him into a cage, and relocated him. I don't know if they ever really figured out where he came from.

Cool. I'm still waiting to spot a mountain lion, and now I have something else to look out for.

you aren't far from where they confirmed mountain lions, so you just might get that chance.
