In got the same raction at the Jasper office depot FEDEX Kinkos but when I called the State Police firearms Division and asked about it they said just go get a copy made at one of those places. When I told them that those businesses said it was illegal they said it wasn't true. I discovered that there is enough blank space on the pink paper that you cut your license out of to print a second one.

Something to keep in mind. National companies have national policies, many of which are driven by lawyers and corporate policies.

It's possible that in some states it's illegal to copy permits. I don't know this is true, just speculating.

Rather than try to train state by state, especially if they don't have a training department in every state, they just issue a corporate policy.

You'd be surprised at how much employment stuff you fill out, and how many forms and things you have to fill out just because of a legal case or a law passed in California that has nothing to do with the law of the state you live in.

I've heard this story so many times about Kinkos that I believe this is being put out by their national training department, again, most likely not from anything malicious, just from resource conservation.

I took my GF to Staples in Auburn to get a couple back up copies, the girl working managed to get 12 copies from one sheet, and the laminated one of the copies for like $1.50 or less. I can't remember how much it was, i just remember being shocked at how helpful, and cheap it all was.

Started out Monday to have my Lifetime permit copied and laminated at Staples on Pendleton Pike. They only had 2 people working and they were pretty busy with other customers so after 20 minutes I decided to head down the street to FedEx/Kinko's. Store was empty so I figured I would be in and out in no time at all. Guy at the counter asks what I need and I hand him my permit and tell him 3 copys and laminatings. He takes my permit and puts it in the copier hits the button and out come 3 copies in WHITE. (guess I should have known to be more specific) I told him I needed those in pink and he gets all excited stating "you can't copy these, they are FEDERAL DOCUMENTS!" I ask him if this is store policy because I've not read anywhere that you can't do it. He tells me it's a Federal offence to copy a handgun permit. I told him "it's a state license but wish it was Federal" at which point he takes it up a notch and says " IT'S FEDERAL AND AGINST THE LAW"! At this point I thought he was ready to lock the doors and hold me till the Secret Service got there so I just laughed and said "thanks for the info, I guess you being more informed than I just saved me some prison time" I headed down the street to a box and ship place and had 3 copies made and laminated in about 10 minutes.

    Feb./March of '08' I went through the same process. First at a UPS store-NO Dice-Against the Law--BLA-BLA..
I went to the EXACT same Fed-X store that you speak of--They were very helpful, made me 1/2 dozen copies/laminated a few of them+I was on my way.
I would say this is an employee decision, not a Corporate decision..Bill.

I wasnt happy with the paper license either , I paid hard earned US dollars , just expected more

I paid hard earned US dollars simply because that is the extortion fee our state charges for the permission to legally exercise what should be my natural and protected right.

Understand that the fee is not associated with the actual product that they send you in the mail, the license simply shows that you have purchased the privilege of an exception to Indiana law.

For the infringement it represents to me, I'm kinda glad it looks so cheap.

I would be fine if it was a hand written note scribbled on a dirty napkin.

(Of course, I would still copy and laminate the napkin.)

I scanned and printed mine on pink paper on my own and took it to Fedex/Kinkos in Bloomington for laminating. I went there because they had a do-it-yourself lamination station. So I did it and they didn't even have to see what I was doing. Paid and left and didn't have to deal with the ignorance. That's the way to do it if you can find one like that!

If any of you need it done, and are around Shelbyville, there is a local store that does it for really cheap. The store is P.A.S.S, Packing and shipping specialist. Everyone I know has had it done there. I've even heard of a few gun lovers meeting because they were getting it done at the same time.

I got my FOP permit slip done there for like $1 or something dirt cheap like that.

It also never hurts to spend locally

The guy at the Plainfield Kinko's pulled out the sample book and helped me match the paper color. He then helped with the copier settings so it only copied the text and didn't try to reprint the pink background and come out gray. Couldn't have asked for better service. :yesway:

    Holy necro-thread, Batman!

Anyway, I went to the FedEx store in Broad Ripple a few weeks ago to have copies made and get them laminated. The woman helping me was incredibly friendly and more than willing to do it. She even initiated a nice conversation regarding firearms, and I'm fairly certain that I convinced her to get herself a lifetime LTCH.

Took mine to the Evansville Kinkos. They said they had been told by local LEOs not to copy LTCHs. So I went to the Evansville Office Depot. They told me the same thing. They did, however, sell me 20 sheets of titty-pink paper for 40¢. Took them home and used my AIO to make my own copies. You can't tell the difference.

Local sheriff told me to bring it in when I got it and he'd laminate it for me.
"That way you don't have to have it reissued." This was when I went in for the prints.

I was just going to buy the paper and print it myself. Still have another 8 weeks to wait though...

pute62, what box and ship place did you go to? It would be good for the rest of us to know. Thanks!

Maybe we should have a "sticky" of print friendly locations accross the state.

I had 6 copies made and laminated at Fedex/Kinkos on west 86th street in Indy last summer. The gal doing the lamination had just got her LTCH and was totally ware of the situation (good for me). Just a couple months ago, my wife finally got hers in the mail, and we went back to the same place for copies, and lamination. Well, guess what....the guy that was there at the time said it was illegal to copy. I politely explained that I had mine done at exactly the same place a few months earlier. His responce was that that was impossible because no one working there would break the law...WHAT??? The wife and I didn't say another word, We went across the street to staples and had it done with no problem. Point being,...I think the decision to make the copies is sometimes up to the employee that you run into at these various places, and they are not up to speed on what is "legal", and what is not. :twocents:
