Yeah, I've been hearing about this "miraculous" decrease in murders and violent crime in Chicago over the last 6 months.

Doesn't surprise me that the Chi-machine would try something like this.

I'm sure a fair amount of the rest of the difference can be attributed to the fact that it got warm early in the year in 2012 and stayed warm for the rest of the year (warmer outside = more thug activity). Whereas this year has been particularly cold and heavy on precipitation.

If the good people of Illinois get their rights somewhat restored, do you think the hoodlums, gangsters and other baddies will stop donating Big Dollars to the Chicago Political Machine?

im sure im not the only one upset
i have family in IL and will most likely be one of those who is going to have to spend $300 to get my IL carry license

i wonder if taking a Utah/Arizona class at the same time would count double towards my training requirement

No, it's not. This is not a floor on top of which they can expand gun rights. This is a ceiling above which IL gun rights will never be permitted to rise. In fact, I'm sure there are bills being crafted right now that will lower that ceiling further immediately upon the convening of the next IL legislature.

They still have to function within the parameters of Moore v. Madigan. If they get too cute the 7th Cir. may send them out to the woods to cut the switches.

Not necessarily. If you go out in public there you would need one. To drive to someone's house and visit, you would not

    (g) A licensee shall possess a license at all times the

22 abode, legal dwelling, or fixed place of business, or on

11 (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the

Does this mean they will honor Indiana's permit?

There was a preliminary writeup in the Chicago Tribune today. The highlights were:

May issue, must present a valid reason for need of permit.
    Training required.
    Age 21.
    No felonies or violent misdemeanors.
$100 fee, plus an additional $50 for a Chicago rider.
No carry on trains, busses or in schools, bars, churches, govt. buildings.
    Eye screening required.
    No history of mental illness.

These are the highlights. I am sure I missed some things, but I passes the paper on to a friend. Full story below.
