    If we can't regulate ourselves, we will be regulated. The number of AD/ND resulting in injury or death is appalling, and it almost always boils down to inattention, lack of sufficient training/awareness, and sometimes poor equipment. We can speculate which this is, an obstructed holster, a collapsed holster, whatever but this happens more than most of you think. It just rarely makes the news if it isn't a child or in some place of special interest like a church or a mall.

    There are two paths we can take. We can tell people to stay out of the water so they don't drown, or we can teach them to swim. Anti's want us to stay out of the water by never owning guns. The "never touch it" message is pretty similar. I'd rather we focus on safe handling. You can own it, you can touch it, you can use it ....IF you handle it correctly and safely. That does NOT include leaving it in the reach of toddlers, holstering blind with a collapsible holster and a striker fired gun, etc.

    I would argue that there is a distinction between "never touch it" and "stop looking for excuses to touch it".
