Neither candidate will win as much as the others will lose. Can you imagine the trouble Republicans would face if Bernie had gotten the nomination? Youth vote with a strong grass roots effort, no history of scandal, not married to Bill, etc.? The Clinton corruption machine that stole the nomination hurts the party in the long run.

I have no clear idea of whether Bernie would have had much in the way of coattails. A Bernie candidacy and win may have resulted in a strongly Republican congress (both houses) as people were appalled at the prospect of the US becoming Socialist. In such a case he would still be infinitely preferable to a win by Lucrezia Borgia. In no small measure because he likely would have broken the Clinton machine for good.

If Sanders managed to have long coattails, I still can't see a heavy youth vote being enough to give him both house and senate. But if it did, even then I'm not sure it would have been worse for America than a Clinton win. I think it would just accelerate the inevitable collapse (like nanothermite )

Though the DailyKos website is trying to throw water on it saying they havent actually reopened the investigation, only that Comey SUGGESTED they do so and the media is taking his suggestion as policy.

Their headline: "Despite the horrendous reporting, the FBI is NOT reopening the Clinton email investigation".
