    Santorum is just the fearmongerer we need to keep us all quivering in the fetal position, wetting our pants, and asking government to keep us safe.

    "Once they have a nuclear weapon, let me assure you, you will not be safe even here in Missouri," Santorum said. "These are folks who have been and are at war with us since 1979," he said of Iran.

    Santorum recalled that the improvised explosive devices which are "the number one killer and maimer of our troops in the Middle East" were "manufactured in Iran, by the Iranian government, and distributed to the terrorists in both Iraq and Afghanistan."

    Doomsday warning from Rick Santorum

    On Iranian policy, he warns that Tehran first would destroy Israel and then turn its sights on the United States. "They cannot have a nuclear weapon, because you, in Greenville, will not be safe," he said in South Carolina.

    The entire premise of self-government is negated if you disallow the power of the people to strip themselves of the liberty they themselves hold.

    From The Declaration of Independence:

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness"

    Rights cannot be given or taken away if they are endowed by our Creator. Privileges, on the other hand, can be granted and revoked.

    Your version of "self government" is not in line with the wisdom of our Founding Fathers. Santorum, like most mainstream Republicans and Democrats, view our rights as privileges.

    Rick Santorum's anti-gun history

    Rick Santorum has been wishy-washy on gun rights, just like he has been wishy-washy on capitalism, freedom, obeying the constitution, opposing Big Government, being fiscally conservative, etc.

    On gun rights, Santorum helped crack down on gun shows, supported Lautenberg's anti-gun legislation, mandated handgun locks, and supports pro-establishment anti-gun candidates.

    On top of what is mentioned in this article, he voted to create a new Federal agency, the Travel Security Agency (TSA), whose sole job is to set up checkpoints and disarm American citizens. That's the exact opposite of a constitutional, pro-gun stance.

    In the 90s, he voted to support the Lautenberg Gun Ban, which stripped law-abiding gun owners of their Second Amendment rights for life, simply because they spanked their children or did nothing more than grab a spouses wrist.

    He voted for a bill in 1999 disguised as an attempt to increase penalties on drug traffickers with guns… but it also included a provision to require federal background checks at gun shows.

    And then he voted with gun-controlling Democrats Dianne Fienstein and Frank Lautenberg to mandate locks on handguns in 2005.

    But worst of all, Rick Santorum has a storied history of bailing out anti-gun Republicans facing reelection.

    Rick Santorum came to anti-gun Arlen Specter’s defense in 2004 when he was down in the polls against pro-gun Republican Pat Toomey. Specter won and continued to push for gun control during his years in the Senate.

    He also supported and openly campaigned for anti-gun New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman.

    The evidence is clear. Not only is Rick Santorum refusing to reveal where he stands on important Second Amendment issues, he has a long record of supporting anti-gun legislation and politicians.
    Pro-gun group goes after Rick Santorum for not completing its survey, launches robo-calls
    An uncompromising gun rights organization, which previously attacked Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, is now going after his Republican rival, Rick Santorum.

    The National Association for Gun Rights launched robo-calls against Santorum this weekend, after publishing an anti-Santorum letter on its website last week. The group says Santorum never filled out its survey, and claims he has a “long history of supporting gun control.”

    I'm liking Santorum more and more every day. The man isn't afraid to defend things that he admits he doesn't understand (SOPA) and he feels that there need to be regulations on all freedoms. We're free to enjoy the freedoms he believes we should have and he wants to control those that make him squirm. I see nothing wrong with this.

    You give me a power hungry moron and he has my vote!!!

    Self-described "progressive conservative"; no position on abortion (1990)

    Here's a 1990 article about Rick Santorum running against incumbent Democrat Doug Walgren for U.S. Senate.

    It is revealed that Santorum described himself as a "progressive conservative" at the onset of his career, which I find to be quite revealing. Newt Gingrich did the same thing. Once in office they simply used the word "conservative" to describe their flagrant support of socialism.

    He also admitted to having not much interest in opposing abortion, which would later become one of his chief moral crusades.

    Santorum is also relying on the ranks of religious conservatives opposed to legal abortion.

    That marks a definitive political arrival for Santorum, who describes himself in his campaign manual as a "progressive conservative," and who did not have a firm position on abortion - a flashpoint issue with the religious right - until he began his campaign.

    Santorum said he always opposed government funding of abortions, but "beyond that I tried as much as I could to dance around the issue, not really take a position on it."

    But in fact, Santorum had taken enough of a position on abortion that he drew up, around December, a position paper that later had to be quietly withdrawn. In that paper, Santorum said, he had limited his opposition to abortion to cover only the time in which the fetus is considered viable - usually taken to mean the final three months of pregnancy - and to public funding of abortions.

    The videos show the words coming from his mouth. They're all "in context". The fact of the matter is that Santorum is about the worst candidate out there, (and that's saying a hell of a lot, considering Gingrich and Romney). Go ahead and waste a vote on the Ayatollah. If he wins the nomination Obama is a shoe in, (as he already pretty much is anyway, given the "competition").
