Had a half day yesterday so I got out a bit. I swear the squirrels were as unhappy with the heat and humidity as I was. Only saw two and couldn't get a shot.

Saw two bunnies and a doe though! We'll see if the woods aren't congested this long weekend and I'll have more pictures!

I'm still on cloud 9. That is my first hunting success ever. I can't wait to get home tonight. Plus I am waking up Aidan to go in the morning tomorrow. So much fun.

Proud husband moment. She killed her first squirrel this morning! Big ol' tough fox squirrel. I sat down in front of her and she rested the gun up on my head. Pulled of a clean kill right through the vitals with no damage to the meat. I killed one also, but didn't get a pic. I skinned them out right away and through them in a cooler in my backpack.

Got out and sat down right before sunrise this morning. Had this guy come down a tree about 10 yards in front of me. He was coming slowly - inching down and looking around tail swishing. Waited till he cleared the branches between us and said good morning with a .22. :)

Waited a few to retrieve him, looking for more movement. Saw a chipmunk come out and run along a tree but not much more. Was I surprised when I cleaned that guy and found #6 shot wedged in his hide. Poor guy had survived a shotgun shot some time ago!

Took a walk and saw #2 dart into some brush. Followed the sounds of his movement through the tree and spotted him on a clear branch. Dropped him from about 50 yards. Immediately I heard some more noise and saw a little one way up there in another tree. Brought him down but he ended up being a little piney. Overall a productive morning and came out in time for a late breakfast. Didn't want to stick around as it grew hotter and try to max out.

What a awesome morning. I didn't shoot well and only walked out with one. I bet I could have got my bag limit this morning with my trusty 20 gauge but I love .22 hunting. Morgan Monroe is full of them but it's thick for .22 hunting. I love the challenge though. If I didn't have a baby at home I would have hunted longer.
