I am going for a best all time list. The beretta at #1 is debatable, but i love the design. It also is as well made and proven as any other pistol to date. Nobody can name a pistol that everyone can agree is any more rugged and reliable than the 92. However, there are others that are considered to be in the same boat. So here we go.

1. Beretta 92 (speaks for itself)
2. Browning High Power (Innovator in design and High Capacity)
3. Luger (Innovative)
4. Sig P226/229 (speaks for itself. really pretty much equal with 92)
5. Glock 17/19 (Puke. cant believe i just said that)
6. S&W M&P (Proven alternative to glock tupperware)
7. XD (same as M&P, but not quite as popular)
8. HK USP (Really great gun, and everyone agrees.)
9. S&W 5906 (Great gun for its time, well built and reliable)
10. Ruger P89 (tank)

Not on the list but I like the Ruger SR-9.
Very low recoil.
Easy pointing.
Low barrel height. (low muzzle flip)
Low weight
17 round mag
$429.
My family has 3 of these.

I own only one 9mm, 1971 Browning Hi-Power. Why own a 9mm when you can own a .45. I'd like to get a Luger though.

Most of the pistols would be fine for carry. For more active shooting, like steel challenge, USPSA, Glocks, M&P, Springfileld are kings.
