I did the Chantix thing five or six years ago. I don't remember any details, but I do remember it did cause really weird dreams. Ended up only being on it for 3 weeks, gave me a headache that wouldn't go away.

I have never taken Chantix, but am aware of its reputation of giving people weird dreams. I have often wondered if it is the Chantix causing the dreams or enabling people to remember the dreams they normally have. How often do we wake up from dreams wondering from where that came.

.... and if that is not normal, I am just speculating.

lucky...my doctor keeps telling me I need to just stretch until it feels better. I've got multiple pinched nerves and disc issues. He wants to order a bunch of expensive tests (I don't have insurance) when some muscle relaxers would work much better. Had to see a doctor several years ago for back spasms and they gave me vicodin when 3-5 days worth of soma would have done a better job.

I was hit by a semi while driving home from work back in 83'. (It jackknifed and came across the median and smashed me into the guardrail.) My back & pelvis was broken--just to name a couple of my injuries. Since then, I have had 3 lower lumbar surgeries. I've been through all the mid-evil stretches, tests, traction, spinal blocks, etc, etc that they could come up with.

"Better living through modern chemistry..."

Not a funny side effect, but morphine makes me vomit. I can't even keep water down. Makes me sad because I always hear about how "awesome" morphine makes you feel.

Back injuries and subsequent surgeries can be a royal B****! And yes, once you go under the knife, you're doomed for repeat surgeries, esp if you have osteoporosis, a lack of calcium, and a low bone density.

I had my knee surgery about 4 months later, and at least for that they did a nerve block that lasted for the first day.

They had me on several pain meds, are putting in a pain pump that leads directly to my spinal cord, and with what else is crapping out on me, I'm what we call a "Pharmaceutical Company with feet"! Talk about a real PITA! Back, knee, spine, shoulders, hands, one ankle, the opposite foot, pelvis, both wrists, multiple internal organs, and the list goes on......our daughter calls me "Mrs. Potato Head" cuz they keep trying to rearrange my original parts, or just remove them if they can't fix them. Then they have to give me a pill of some sort to make up for what got removed.

I've got the "Donor" heart on my drivers license, but I'm not sure if I'll have any parts left that anyone else would want! Maybe a few, as long as they don't wear out before I pass over! I could always donate my body to science...but then we watched a program on one University that has a "Body Garden", which takes donated bodies and leaves them out in the elements to discover the different stages of decomp. They have "donepops", "maypops", "exploders", and a host of other names that the medical community uses to explain the condition of the deceased person. Um....no! I'm not crazy about laying in the dirt with bugs in the first place, but at least my claustrophobia wouldn't be an issue! Being out like that, I could just become a Zombie get up and walk off if I wanted to. A Zombie farm! Oh joy....<shiver>! Ready made Zombies, just add dirt!

I instantly changed my mind....I know the "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" thingy, but "the bugs crawl in the bugs crawl out" little rhyme gave me a visual that I really didn't find appealing! I'm just going to be cremated and put on the shelf with the dogs. At least that way we're all in the same general area. The only thing my urn would be missing is the dog collar and tags.

And DON'T even go there with the jokes! We're to old to be that kinky! :D

Naaa, just goofy, dopey, sleepy and grumpy, with most of the 7 dwarfs thrown in for good measure. And if you're allergic like I am, you turn into a bogundus hive after it starts to wear off. I had so many Benedryl shots after my daughter was born, I had round, quarter sized bruises all over my rear end. Definitely wasn't worth the hype.

Let me say, I do not tolerate pain meds very well. The best story I don't remember very well but it is well told among our friends. I had pneumonia, bad enough that I have lung damage, and the doc gave me an inhaler, steroids, codeine cough syrup, and Vicodin. Had me take everything when I got home and I would be out of work for a week. Good little girl takes all her meds and then remembers I haven't called my boss yet. I call, talk to the owner and he says I sound like crap take you medicine and go lay down. "Yes, sir", hang up and proceed to take a second dose of EVERYTHING.

We had company coming over that evening. At one point I was running down the street with our oldest friend going "here kitty, kitty" to get me to come back (it only works drugged). Three people proceeded to keep watch over the door and plop me back in my chair everything time I tried to get up after that.

In high school and college, I refused to take my epilepsy meds because the daily side effects were worse than the annual seizure they were supposed to be preventing (which is not uncommon, from what I've heard). I managed to go six years without a seizure while off the meds.

They came back with a vengeance in 2001, though, and I'm a grown-up now, so I take the medication religiously now. So when I'm not an emotional zombie (thank you, Depakote), I have anxiety attacks (Lamictal), or inexplicable rages (Keppra). Got to love flying off the deep end because someone moved your box cutter from the left side of your desk to the right side. ;) At least the rages aren't so bad that I become physically violent. They're more like PMS on steroids.

Wasn't quite that bad but I was in a car, no seat belts, that rolled 3 times (after a little jump over train tracks). "No injuries" was the diagnosis. I was probably 4 or 5 at the time and started having issues by 10. Had a few chiropractors not want to do a whole lot after seeing x-rays because of the shape of my spine. There is quite a bit that isn't quite right and when they do give me something, it is the good old standby of 5/500mg vicodin. Best that does is make you not care as much about the pain. Seen plenty of people go through back and neck surgeries, spinal blocks, and plenty of the tests only to be put on pain killers as none of it really worked. Fun times for sure.

I confused my Viagra and Propecia for each other once. All my hair was standing straight up, and I had three new penises.

I took Enzyte for natural male enhancement. I couldn't stop smiling, I kept getting promoted, phone numbers from models, grew hair, lost weight, finally shot under par, hit the halfcourt shot at an NBA game, ran a sub 4-minute mile, and even discovered the last digit of Pi, but I still had to find a urologist at Riley :(

that's the only opiate that doesn't do that to me. codeine cough syrup makes me sick as a dog, then very drowsy.

on a related note, when i lived in north carolina, i won a raffle for a full day offshore charter. the night before at the hotel i busted up my knee and got stitches in my shin and bottom of my heel in a funny story (too long to write for now) and had to go to the er. doc gave me a half-dozen oxycontin to take. i woke up and popped one before heading out to the marina. on the ride out i started getting queasy but shook it off. first bite was within 10 mins; i reeled it in, got the fish in the box, then leaned over the rail to puke. spent the next 6 1/2 hours alternating between being slumped in a corner and over the rail. finally felt better for the last 15 minutes of trolling, then felt great for the ride home. what a way to spend what will probably be a once in a lifetime experience for me.

I had heart surgury at 17 and between the morphene, pain killers, and blood pressure medicine...i dont remember much. I did quit taking the blood thinners after a year or so, i was tired of jumping up off the couch and passing out cold on the floor.

I had a transesophageal echocardiogram which they shot me up with versed. I remembered them shooting it into my veins and it felt like ice water going through my veins. When I woke up in the recovery room I was ready to go home. I got up, took off the gown, the sensor attached to my finger and stumbled naked down the hall.

I had to get a root canal a few years ago and they prescribed me enough Vicodin to last from the initial appointment until the procedure, only a week or two. Everytime I took the Vicodin the pain would multiply. They prescribed me Tylenol 3s after I told them what Vicodin did to me. I don't know what those do for me, I never got to use one.
