First Home Depot now Big R in Elkhart! Since when does having a ltch mean you can draw and fire on fleeing shoplifters? Where is the threat? Would I want to be in front of a jury trying to explain why I fired at a fleeing car? I think not!

Wonder if the clown had their ccw badge proudly displayed!

Pretty sure Law Enforcment is not going to shoot at a shoplifter either. But a LEO should know better.

Is the shoplifter putting your life or someone else's life in danger? If yes, they are not a shoplifter, they are something much worse. If they are a shoplifter, why are you shooting at them?? It's not ok for the police to shoot at shoplifters, it's not ok for you either!! STOP!!! Rant over.

Shoplifting is a stepping stone crime to armed robbery. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I remember the cops in L.A. didn't seem to have any reservations about pouring heavy fire (over a hundred rounds) into the rear of several vehicles during the big "manhunt" fiasco. Some cops in New Mexico poured rounds into the back of a van filled with kids. So it's not just "citizens" who have really bad judgement. Personally I would much rather watch them escape than shoot at a fleeing vehicle if I have no idea who else is in it or what may be behind it.

    .
    Great incentive.
Nothing says "Stop Stealing" like a bullet in the head.

The more this happens, the less it will happen.

BULL... Law Enforcement will shoot at anyone in today's day in age.

Gotta disagree. LEO in Indiana should be recieving training in proper use of force. There is most definitely criteria that have to be met before police can shoot at the Citizens.

BULL... Law Enforcement will shoot at anyone in today's day in age.

That's a serious indictment. What is the supporting evidence? How many police vs. shoplifter encounters are there? Since you claim that police will shoot anyone, how many police vs. non-police encounters are there? How many of each situation result in police action shootings?

    Don't you mean civilians?
