What does everybody have for shtf vehicle? I've got a Polaris ranger to take off to the woods and my diesel pickups but was just curious as to what everybody else is gonna use. I'm thinking if getting an old military blazer or pickup.

    I have a 2008 F-250 6.4 DIESEL, SUPER-CAB, LONG-BED Also have a 2003 SUZUKI VINSON 500 4X4 ATV. I'm planning on staying home were I have plenty of ammo:rockwoot:

Jeep...a real jeep not some crappy cherokee or liberty
I I feel Insulted I think my 95 Grand Cherokee is a very capable SHTF vehicle, all old school straight axels, none of the independent suspension stuff with more things to break. lus it has a sunroof so my passenger can pop up and take out Zombies and such. I also like my sons recent aquisition a Dodge Ram 1 ton Dually with a Cummins turbo Diesel. I think thsat would be very handy sisce you have wide variety of substitute fuels available, although burning cooking oil might get a lot of people trying to find your French Fries!

Hope you're talking about the ZJ and newer. My XJ will go anywhere a CJ/YJ/TJ, etc... will go.

MY SHTF vehicle is a '00 Cherokee. At least it would get me the hell out of Indy. But as said earlier, when/if the fuel supply dries up ANY motorized vehicle will be useless. Maybe a place to stay dry, or store stuff.

In case of SHTF/end of the world/nuclear world war type of event there is just one vehicle you will need to reach a safe place.

That didn't end to well for the owner, did it ?

Depends on how you look at it...

I feel like the vehicle accomplished exactly what it was built for, and you must also take into account that the owner's plan was to kill himself. So yeah, I guess it did end as well as he wanted it to.

I want to get an M35A2 with a multi-fuel engine, it will run on diesel, gasoline (w/ oil added), kerosene, jet fuel, etc. Its hard to stop a 6 wheel drive 6 1/2 ton truck.

Here's a question some one might answer ... can an e85 vehicle be modified to
burn moonshine ? Apparently you can make that about any where .

Probably, but not well. What is the alcohol content of "moonshine"?

The issue is the water content, and the fact that E85 is still 15% gasoline. Shine with 85% alcohol (170 proof - darn strong stuff) would still be 15% water and no gasoline. Can't imagine it would run well if at all.

If you can get near 100% ethanol, then you should be able to re-program the car's computer to handle it.

Unless you live in a very rural area, in which case you are probably NOT bugging out in a vehicle, I think a fuel-efficient vehicle or non-threatening minivan is a better way to go than some quasi-militarized vehicle.

See above pictures of gas lines. AND, Johnny Law may think you're some sort of whacko or up to shenanigans if you're running around in a camouflaged hum-vee with gas cans strapped to the top while wearing your tactical vest.

In the modern day and age you don't need to be able to drive much offroad. A little, sure.
