To launch grenades with. Its fun.

The air-burst chemical rounds are my favorite.

Wouldn't have a problem if they were available to everyone, but disparity of force is disgusting. As the only reason they have such a thing is to use it against me, the members of their community.

Why does Morgan county need an MRV and a grenade launcher?

You don't know, you weren't there, man!

*shaking, thousand yard stare* Grays Brothers, man, you just don't know, the blue hairs on Sunday after church. You don't know, man, you have no right.

All those white people standing politely in line! That's why the Morgan County Sheriff needs a tank, man. You just don't know.

Don't even let me tell you about the Waverly Triangle. That's some serious s**t, man.

Wow , talk about corruption . Marion county has 15 pages of gear cops don't need . I don't ever want to hear about what cops in this county need again .
Corruption? Which of the 10-20 police departments in Marion County have what? I know that we outfit our recruits with some of this stuff. Their academy backpacks are surplus, range gear, boots, etc. Much of our range staff get their rain gear from here. The academy staff gets their cold weather gear from here. Some of our workout equipment, office furniture, filing cabinets, range vehicles, PA at the range, storage containers, ect. We issue M16A1 (converted to semi-auto) as patrol rifles. Where is this "corruption" you speak of?

It's just human nature, when free stuff is available you're going to take it whether you need to or not. It's like buying a bunch of cheap junk while going to garage sales all day.

You CAN buy one. Some of them are not even particularly expensive - they are vey simple, low pressure weapons.

37mm launchers can be had for quite cheap if you buy used, and are considered non-firearms.

Because every local sheriff's office should be equipped with at least one "Chair, Dental Operating."

Jail, lockup, prison comes to mind. Its almost always cheaper to have a small room setup and then just hire or contract any dentist than to have to hire/ contract out dental to someone equipt with a mobile or portable operatory.

Dang the popo in my home county got a cargo plane. Plus 9 other pages of cool crap. Wonder what it cost to fill that beast up?

The Feds are probably fueling it to fly in the illegals. Did you live in San Bernardino or the county? I grew up in San Bernardino county until I left for Air Force.

Just hard for me to believe the different agencies don't issue cold weather gear as part of their uniforms already , you know cause according to the IN labor board, if a uniform is required to be worn while performing company duties , the company shall issue it and may not charge the employee .

You saying Marion county agencies are exempt from IN . labor board laws ?

GL's , MOLLE LBE's , boots , gear , etc , not part of any standard uniform I've EVER seen any type of IN LEO wear , so where'd it all go ?

Where'd the .45's go ? Some agencies issuing .45's as duty weapons ? I'm pretty sure Marion county LEO's aren't carrying 1911's in those duty belts .

I would love to see any kind of accountability for where all this gear went and find out exactly what the rational behind " needing " it is .

I understand the " high speed " guys may need some of the more specialized gear but how many of those guys are in Marion county ?

I've never seen officers in this county wearing mixed matched military / police uniforms . The other county/agency LEO's I've worked with " in the field " , would on occasion wear an old M65 jacket or maybe some BDU bottoms but that was it .

IMO , it just doesn't pass the smell test .

It seems way more plausible that a lot of this gear is in some folk's houses or was sold off .

Can I claim my status as being a part of the State Militia as designated under Indiana Constitution:

    ARTICLE 12.
Militia. Section 1. A militia shall be provided and shall consist of all persons over the age of seventeen (17) years, except those persons who may be exempted by the laws of the United States or of this state. The militia may be divided into active and inactive classes and consist of such military organizations as may be provided by law.

And buy some of them cheap .45's, 7.62s and other assorted gear for my "team" (family)? It's for the defense of the State!

You saying Marion county agencies are exempt from IN . labor board laws ?
They issue us basic uniforms when we are first hired, after that we are responsible for providing EVERYTHING other than the body armor and duty-handgun. Every other uniform piece we have to buy ourselves when needed. We get a clothing allowance for that however. Last year (-15 below temps) I saw a lot of guys breaking out those goofy looking surplus rubber boots for arctic weather. The cold weather under garments surplussed to us get a lot of use. I have no idea what Indiana labor laws are I do know that public safety is exempt form a lot of that stuff, it's just the nature of the job.

GL's , MOLLE LBE's , boots , gear , etc , not part of any standard uniform I've EVER seen any type of IN LEO wear , so where'd it all go ?
We got a lot a surplussed black Belleville boots, new in the box. Lots of guys wear those. I have some Belleville desert boots that I wear at the range. I also have Gortex rain jacket and pants that I wear at the range, I'm not allowed to wear it while in uniform.

Where'd the .45's go ? Some agencies issuing .45's as duty weapons ? I'm pretty sure Marion county LEO's aren't carrying 1911's in those duty belts .
There is a small PD here that got quite a few of them for their guys to carry off duty. They were all grey parkerized (yuk). We are not allowed to carry a single action on or off-duty so we did not get any of them.

I would love to see any kind of accountability for where all this gear went and find out exactly what the rational behind " needing " it is .
They audit us on occasion for tracking purposes. We do not need to provide a "reason" to get it. The vast majority of what we get ends up in an Army/Navy surplus store if we did not grab it.

I understand the " high speed " guys may need some of the more specialized gear but how many of those guys are in Marion county ?
Most of what we get has nothing to do with "high speed". We get chairs, desks, cabinets, etc. It's been decades since we bought new office furniture (it kind of shows as everything you see is OLD)

I've never seen officers in this county wearing mixed matched military / police uniforms . The other county/agency LEO's I've worked with " in the field " , would on occasion wear an old M65 jacket or maybe some BDU bottoms but that was it .

Some clothing is at our homes and we pull it out when needed. I got cammo BDU's from surplus that only get pulled out when going to the range or a detail that will get me dirty. Same with my boots, cold weather undies, etc.

Bottom line, if you want what we have, you can find it at the Army/Navy store.
