This is just my personal opinion, but a few years ago I gathered as much info as I could about the situation and here are the reasons I have forgiven Springfield and couldn't care less what the "internet people" think:
    1. It happened 5+ years ago. They took corrective action and I haven't heard of anything controversial since. They make pretty good guns. I realize the internet people never make mistakes, but good lord...
    2. I can't imagine the complexities of being a gun manufacturer in a very anti-gun state, so I can't say I would navigate better, given the realities they face (although like LMT did, they should move out of IL!).
    3. I've worked in an industry with a politically and otherwise active trade association to which my company belonged. I've seen those organizations have their own completely separate agendas and sometimes be fairly disconnected from the interests of the actual membership.
    4. The way it went down, it seemed to me that the CEO/co-founder wasn't initially involved in or aware of the messaging and once there was an issue, he got involved and corrected it. I'm not sure what more could have been done or what people wanted.
    5. Let's not pretend that all other manufacturers or gun-related associations don't have suspect motivations at times... guess when gun sales and donations to organizations such as the NRA are at their highest? When the government is trying to restrict gun rights! Just sayin'...
I agree. I think hs / sa makes some really nice guns. I probably have shot the xd mod 2 better than any non competition based polymer gun. They had some features that some hardcore internet operators didn’t like but I feel they shot great and were 100 percent reliable. I haven’t bought a sa since the xde and wish they would’ve updated thst line. I will always be a hammer fired guy and really enjoyed it but I ms of the day I moved on to a different carry. I’m of the opinion all business men and ceos and the like are crooks and could care less about their beliefs. I just care if I personally like the product.

I read an article that the guy who owns Apex wrote. I thought he made some good points. Enough that if I didn't already own a polymer 9, I'd consider it.

But I'm "retired" now from spending money on firearms so it's a moot point for me. I just read the new firearms intros for kicks and maybe to be able to suggest something to folks just starting out.

Nephew bought one of these yesterday. Said he put 200rds through it today. Only problem was a Winchester white box primer failed to go off.
I told him sounds like white box to me. I also told him to contact Winchester because they need to know about it. He did just that tonight.
I'm interested to know how Winchester will handle that.

Picture he sent asking if the primer was hit hard enough.

I think this is a good review. Ian has been in Croatia filming, gaming and researching lately and had taken a tour of HS Produkt. He gives I think a reasonably informative breakdown and history of the Echelon so more of the "why" is understood.

Very interested in this if they release compact/subcompact slides and grip modules. etc. It seems to include the things I like about the Sigs and that swayed me that direction, along with some improvements (particularly in optic mounting system).

At first glance when the news drop came of this one, I scoffed it off as just another drop in the polymer gun market. And I don’t say that as a metal gun purist, I’m a Glock guy through-and-through - at least that was until I got my Hellcat Pro. I still have my Glock for my duty gun, but my Hellcat Pro has been my off duty pretty much since I got it.

When I went and qualified it, I actually shot it better, and enjoyed shooting it more, than my Gucci-fied G19. I know some folks complained of bad triggers in the Hellcat, but I have to say that mine is great, and a helluva lot better than a factory Glock trigger (FYI: I can’t change triggers in my department-qualified guns). The only thing missing from the Hellcat Pro is a 20-24 round extended magazine and I’d be a happy camper.

Then they release the Echelon. Now, I’m not saying I can use it as a duty gun, but man that thing sure does hold some promise for me. All of their new features and Colion’s video up above joking that it looks like a Glock, Hellcat Pro and Walther PDP had a sordid ménage a trois, had me looking at it with some interest. I’d be interested to see accessory-wise what supports it. It looks like it might be able to fit Glock holsters and mag pouches, maybe more so with mounted lights since the trigger guard shape isn’t so much of an issue then. And factory extended magazines are always a plus for me.

I’m not ready to jump out and buy one, but it’s the first one in quite a while that I’m somewhat excited to see in the market.

I can’t believe the amount of hate some folks have for this. I have heard about everything from fanboys.

I thought the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro was a solid gun and have seen several in classes and they ran fine. To the point that would be my next compact gun if I got one. A duty size version makes sense! And the Red Dot direct mount and chassis makes it very appealing across the board unless you are a hater.

Guess some forget their favorite brand cones from Socialist countries with free healthcare or made deals with Clinton for locks or their CEO wanted 10 round mags for everyone. I mean if they want to throw stones we might as well bust all the windows!!!

Were seeing this kind of across the board with any new gun that comes out for some reason? When any new gun comes out now people start to pile on or come into a new thread specifically to beat up on it.

It just gets me the amount and type of hate folks want to try and attach to things. Like some kind of moral high ground you’d see from the left on things. Like dude every company even your pet gun company has a couple skeletons in their closet.

So far it looks like HK Produkts is building a new, well featured, pretty solid duty grade pistol for Springfield to import. I like the looks of a lot of the features. I have noticed a number of reviewers talk about getting quite a bit of gunk blowing up onto the lens though. I wonder what that is about?

Interesting since as I understand it, the LCI is extractor based, if I recall, and on the side.

Coon fingered one of these today at my local fun store. This is just my assessment. Obviously that will vary with different individuals. Grip wasn't as tacky/sticky as my Shield Plus. Felt like you took 3 passes of 300 grit to a Shield Plus and you'd have what the Echelon felt like. Almost like it has 1 too many passes with sandpaper. I'd like it better if it was just a smidgen more tacky. I don't do optics on my pistols so that a moot point for me. The trigger wasn't what Colin Noir says it was. It's not terrible at all. Little mush on the take up and a snap. VERY similar to my P365X I had. Little overtravel. The reset was extremely short and audible. Sights are nice but I'm not buying a gun just because it has nice sights. Overall just another striker fired pistol, to me.

Ultimately the OEM grip module may not matter. Waiting to see what the after market can do on these.

I watched this review by Honest Outlaw yesterday. Positive review even though he’s not really a Springfield fan.

Im hoping with SA “cracking the code” on multiple RDS direct mount ability other makers will offer direct mount offerings to the masses and not just agencies (hear me Glock)

And maybe just maybe in another 5-7 years it causes RDS makers to standardize (as much as can be) the footprints on everyone’s RDS
