Great words from all of you. The other pistols would be more for self defense type purposes. 1911 is a bit big to carry which i prefer iwb as I'm not too keen on open carry to advertise what i have but have thought of the shoulder harness but still not liking the size. A 9mm in a 1911 would still seem a bit large to me. I don't really get into having a range gun as most have. I chose the walther pps m2 because it was slim. I'm just thinking i will regret not having the ruger..not so concerned about selling the px4 storm..it actually feels as heavy as the hipoint 45 i used to have.
If you like the Ruger 1911 by all means check out the smaller and lighter Ruger 1911 Commander. Same manual of arms except in a more compact size. It should also hold another round or two in the magazine and there are some quality aftermarket magazines the hold more. For years I thought the only “true” 1911 was in .45 ACP or .38 Super but have since changed my mind. If you like the commander well enough down the road you can have a .38 Super barrel fit to it for a little fun. I have a Colt 1911 that started life as a 9x23 and now it also has a 9mm and 38 Super barrel fitted for it. So basically 3 guns in one. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

The OP said he can't afford 45 ACP. NWIH can he afford 38 Super or have additional barrels acquired and fitted.

If you read what I wrote I said he could do that down the road. .38 Super is not on every shelf but it can be found at reasonable prices and he doesn’t have to shoot hundreds of rounds to enjoy it occasionally. You told him to go buy a P7. Cmon Man!

Couldn't sleep so came to see more suggestions and i see all this.
Comon guys, please stop the crazyness. Starting to feel guilty i even started this.
To try starting over with financial and what i am more needing.
I am poor, simple and crappy fact.., at times i get depressed about it..but that's life. I don't work because i have back and neck problems and would go back to a factory job or small engine repair in a heart beat if i could. I do what i can for cash when it comes around and that pretty much goes into the home. So, i decided i would sell a couple things years back to fund what i wanted without hurting the household funds. Recently i had sold a couple shotguns to get the walther pps m2s i felt were right for me. Now i am at the point for months now trying to figure out rough decisions to sell the sr1911 and probably the px4 storm to get a couple more 9mm pistols in small size like the walther but of different brands i or my daughter and gf might be a fit for also. I feel attached to these but then i don't..yea, probably confusing on that statement. I know a Taurus G3C might be a good choice, but still haven't shot my oldest daughters yet. As much as i don't like the looks of glocks, i even considered the smaller 9mm dagger. It had a good feel and wasnt much different that a pps. My goal is more for cc. I have full confidence in a 9mm for self defense. 380 and 45acp cost is more than i can afford to be messing with..38spl is too, but i do have a 38spl wheel gun from i believe late 70s era. Thought about possibly carrying that, but that was my gfs grandmothers. My brain hurts thinking about this stuff.
    Sorry for being long winded.

What's wrong with your back and neck? Have you had any treatment? I just had L4-S1 fusion a few months ago and I feel great.

Had an auto accident in September 2010. Doctors say it triggered my disc degenerative disease. Used to at time not easily walk because lower back around tailbone hurt really bad. Had pinched nerves in neck. Was going to chiropractor 3 times a week and had 7 cortisone shots. Those shots kinda helped until they wore off 4 months later. Tried many pain pills which most all had no affect..1 oxycodone pill gave me a serious migrain for 1.5 days. Percoset 10s were only thing that helped. I was taking 3 to 4 of them about every 4 hours. I was a zombie and didn't like it..I'm not 1 that likes to pop pills for any reason. Bout 7 months later i lost my job and things went to hell. Luckily some things got slightly better as far as home life went..tgen in August of 21, i got rearend sitting in my 93 f150. Severe case of wiplash. That was hell but i did learn about traction and got some. Lower back is much better and so is neck but the weather really affects me like it dies soneone with arthritis. I have a neck traction device i use several times a week also. Sleeping issues and more. At 1 time i could tell you within 8 hours it was guna rain. Lost that super power a while back.lol.. now i usually get very tired when it rains or i just can't sleep.

Hey pal, you don’t have to explain **** to him. Or justify anything. Just don’t interact and he’ll find someone else to rag on.

Look at the bigger picture. 2 strikes as I perceive it. I could be mistaken but I’ve already watched this movie.

Do you have insurance? Why didn't you sue the people that rear ended you? You can get that fixed surgically.

Yea i know. If you seen my other threads..the my opinion about the bumpstock, you'll see I'm not the greatest at expressing myself very good, so thought i might try again. @Cameramonkey understood and helped out earlier.

What business is that of yours? Did someone make you the arbiter of all things not your business?
None of your business to butt in. I was asking him a question. I don't need your approval.

Now back to the OP's question. You'd get raped selling or trading a Ruger 1911 since it's a low end gun and doesn't command a premium price. I can get 45ACP for 39 cents per round. The small amount extra you'll pay for 45 over 9 will buy lots of ammo for the raping you'd get selling your 1911 and buying a new 9mm.

Sorry, but a Ruger 1911 is a low end gun. Yes, aluminum case. Just trying to save you some money.
A ruger sr1911 model 6700 is not a low end gun..a tias 1911 is. You might wana refresh up on the price new and very slightly used. I have tried aluminum case to save money in the past bad choice. I used federal and ended up contacting them and sending it back to the company. They sent me brass case to replace it. Nothing but ftf or stovepipe ejections. Haven't used it in anything since. Only thing i will use steel case in is my ar15s. Never a problem with that tula ammo.
