      M16A4 Build

Does Brownells do that kind of work? ADCO is the only place that comes to mind, but surely there are others. If so, someone here will know.

DNR Clarification, whats legal and whats not

Some important info I left out of that post is that is rifle data at 100 yards. Jack O'Conner was talking about kinetic energy at the deer, whether it was 30 yards away, or 300 yards. The .357 Mag has the advantage of heavier bullets, higher retained weight, greater sectional density, and a...

      Sparrow Won't Fly

I Googled and found the info linked above. It's Ruger saying do not use the wavey washer with a suppressor. Obviously I need to sit down and read my owners manual.

      Sparrow Won't Fly

I've not heard anything about whether to use the wavey/spring washer or not. I have been using it on the Ruger with no problems. Rookie I could not get your link to open, but it may be my computer?

      AK deer rifle set up

I'm not very familiar with the various AK sidemounts and optics. For $100 you can buy an Ultimak, then mount something like a Primary Arms red dot on it. Vortex may have a red dot too.

DNR Clarification, whats legal and whats not

I stand corrected on that. I looked at a few ballistics charts and found that the two are fairly close. On the Hornady site a .357 Magnum 140 grain Lever...whatever has a few ft. lbs. of kinetic energy more than the Hornady .30 Carbine 110 grain FTX. Both are somewhere between 650 and 700 ft...

DNR Clarification, whats legal and whats not

I'm glad that was clarified this soon. And I'm somewhat surprised the Russian cartridges are included. I have some misgivings about the .30 Carbine. I realize that deer have been taken with everything from .22 shorts to elephant guns, But the .30 Carbine is fairly weak as far as kinetic energy...

Current (2016) thinking on long term storage

I use Birchwood Casey's Barricade. It seems very similar to the old Birchwood Casey Sheath that Barricade must have replaced. I've had the Sheath dry out to the consistency of varnish. That was a mess. So far the Barricade hasn't dried out like that.

HB1231 passes in house- (Centerfire rifles for deer hunting)

The hunting guide comes out later in the year. It seems like it is out before squirrel season, which comes in August 15th. There is plenty of time to make changes to the HPR regs.

HB1231 passes in house- (Centerfire rifles for deer hunting)

Dave that would be Winchester as the "official" name of the cartridge. Similar to .30-06 "Springfield". And private land that you either own, or have permission to hunt on. Did you catch the part about the ammo possession? If I got it right, you can have only 10 rounds of ammo in your possession...

      Dugger Gun & Knife Show March 12 & 13

Flares have gotten to be expensive. I need a few myself, so may run up there and see if I can pick up a box or two. The Dugger show has always been a good one, the times I've went. It looks like I'll be rained out tomorrow, so I might as well go to a gun show.

      M16A4 Build

Speaking of A4 rifles, I noticed that G&R Tactical has the Colt AR15A4 in stock. I thought those had dried up, but maybe there was another run of them lately. The Colt was actually a little less than the BCM A4. They also have complete 20" FN uppers.

If you keep watch on the Knight's Armament site you might be able to buy the M5 RAS "seconds" for $150. I'm not sure how often that deal comes along anymore. They show out of stock right now.

      Recent Savage FV-SR purchase?

I used arbor shims. Thin washers made out of shim stock. I use two at a time, but right now I don't remember what thickness. I'm wanting to say 0.035" or 0.040" (each shim). I bought the arbor shims from Grainger. McMaster-Carr or Fastenal might have them too. My FV-SR is 3 or 4 years old and...

Sears tractor issues and questions PIC HEAVY

The old girl is looking pretty rough but she should come around given a little time and work. That does look to be a Kohler engine. Kohler isn't supporting several of the older engines very well these days but there are a lot of parts for them out there. Cub Cadet (and other) pulling tractors...
