VLTOR A5: unobtainium? Who has it actually in stock?

Can it really be this hard?

Too small a market? I am fairly certain it could be done, but I expect you would loose (or at least mitigate) some of the advantages of a holographic sight in the process. Just curious, but what would you be looking for in a 3x (or more) holographic sight that would be a pratical improvement...

      Ffl question

Long gun, handgun, or other? To my understanding, only long guns (rifles & shotguns) can be picked up at an out-of-state FFL. Who's gun is it and who will be picking it up? Yours and you happen to be in the area? His as a gift and he will be picking it up? Yours, but you want him to pick it up...

Recommend a good scope for my AR

I have a number of Weaver scopes through the years and still have a few. IME, the glass and tracking have been good to very good, but most of the models seem to offer somewhat limited travel. Also, my experiences with their CS have not been great (not bad, but not what I was expecting.) Other...

Recommend a good scope for my AR

What type of shooting do you plan on doing? As others have mentioned, calling Alan is always a good idea when looking at optics IMO. One thing, though, is that I believe he does not see a benefit to fixed-power scopes vs the variable-power scopes available in most (any?) price ranges. If you...

      .25-06 Scope Suggestions

^^^^ Alan really is a great resource. As for the standard SWFA's, the couple I have used have been solid and reliable, but not great. It's subjective & a sample size of 1, but the optics on my 10x didn't seem as crisp as my $200 Bushnell Elite 10x (although the SWFA does have several advantages...

      Legal caliber hunting rifle suggestions

Another mention for the Encore. You can start with a .50ML or .44Mag rifle barrel and easily move to something else. Even better may be to get a pistol frame and a .308 pistol barrel (or other caliber >=.243) and run it as a pistol. With a pistol frame and once configured and used as a pistol...

      .25-06 Scope Suggestions

Yes, it's a Vortex and they will probably not last long, but Cabela's has the 2.5-10x44 PST (MRAD) for $249.99 right now w/ free S&H: Vortex® Viper PST Riflescope : Cabela's That is less than half of normal selling price. Earlier today they had the 6-24x50 Viper HS (V-Plex) for similar $$...

      Recommend me a rangefinder.

In my limited experience, a "1000yd" rangefinder may be needed at 600yds depending on the type of object being ranged. It seems that most of the "affordable" (<$750, IMO) units only get close to their rated range on highly reflective targets. For soft targets, I have had problems getting...

      AR15 not cycling. Need help!

If you get a chance to pick some up, Rocksett is probably a better option than loc tite for the gas block and/or muzzle device. Not that loc tite doesn't work for many folks, but Rocksett holds up >2000F.

      Splurging on an optic. Suggestions?

Aimpoint seems to lead the way, but the new(ish) Trijicon M.R.O. could be another solid option. I like the Vortex Venom & Burris FastFire III for their size & utility, but I don't put them in the same class as the Aimpoints. If you like a compact unit, though, the Trijicon RMR may be another...
