Your first license to carry, what state and what first carry piece.

California 1979 Walther PP 32ACP. Other than a Ruger MK II bull barrel, it was the only pistol I had.

What's your choice of EDC caliber?

45 ACP. I've seen what big slow bullets do to deer.

      HD Shotguns

Mossberg 500 12 ga with a 18 1/2" cylinder bore barrel fitted with a tritium front sight. Added a surefire light and loaded it with LE #1 buck with the flight control wad. It shoots a 2" pattern at 12 yds. Definitely has to be aimed. I also believe the stock is too long. Looking at the Magpul.

Best way to cook Venison Steaks

I treat it just like a quality beef steak. I like mine medium rare. Seared over oak or hickory coals is best. However you like your steaks.

Backpackers what is your favorite Sleeping Pad?

You will want thermal insulation. If not now, you will later. Thermarest is the way to go. One night on a 2.5" Thermarest will make your body a happy camper.

      45 Colt projectile thoughts.

In that the vast majority of deer are taken at less than 100 yds, the trajectory of either bullet is more than adequate. I do question the use of HP bullets since WFP bullets will get the job done with less destruction of meat. Personally, I lean toward the heavier bullet to ensure complete...

      Home defense shells and choke

My Mossberg 500 12 ga with 18" IC barrel has Federal LE #1 buck putting all 15 pellets in a 1.5" group at 12 yds. Tests show they do not over penetrate.

      Alliant Power Pistol - Thoughts?

Speer #13 manual shows 8.1 gr Power Pistol with 230 gr FMJ @ 916 fps in 45ACP . Stout load. Shoots well. I like to load it to 850 fps. Still stout but easier on my pistol. It is a fine ball powder and meters well.

      N. Korea is NOT America!

Well, we at last can learn something from NK.

Minimum vehicle to pull 8,000 lbs.

My wife did the same thing as yours. Out of the blue wanted a travel trailer. We already had a 2006 Dodge 2500 HD w/ Cummins and manual 6 speed tranny. We purchased a used 2003 Airstream classic 30. I towed it from Memphis, TN to Aiken, SC and back home. Up the mountain grades in 6th gear all...

Why You Don't 'See' Motorcycles on the Road

A lot of drivers are looking for a car, bus, truck etc. They don't 'see' a bike, because that's not what their looking for. Having your headlight on high beam helps. Newer bikes have very bright LED lights. Those will get most peoples attn. Still, presume they don't 'see' you.

      Making a murderer

What I can't believe, is any one buying into that series. That dude was found guilty by a jury and 2 appeals upheld the verdict. Too bad he was released the first time. The victim would still be alive.

      Deer hunting rounds....

Marlin 1895 GS 45-70 trimmed to 1.795". Didn't much care for the ar platform, until I found out it could be chambered for 458 SOCOM.

      Carolina-Arizona Last night

I agree with Phylodog. A great opportunity to get in a practice play against a top rated team. The game was over before Arizona's third play. It was all practice after that.
