The ban on 7n6 with a 0.220 bullet and similar bullet design stuck so I expect they'll make it stick with M855 and it's .224 bullet which mathematically speaking is > .220. If the 22cal rule were worth anything it would have stopped the 7n6 import ban but it didn't so I hold out little hope...

I believe part of the problem has been some state laws are preventing those states from giving that information to NICS.
But yes it reinforces the point that the "solution" isn't more laws it's enforcing the existing ones and working out the kinks such as this.
They need to be adjudicated mentally incompetent by the legal system and that ruling provided to NICS. That is the current system.
A family member or the mental health doctor can initiate this.

Yes, I use them myself. But I pay a fair fee for them, too. For some reason I was assuming NICS would cost considerably less.
I could see incorporating low or no cost NICS access it into the C&R 03 and making the 03 process easier to deal with. Maybe "up to 3 calls a month" or some such...

I would think empty bank accounts and maxed out credit cards are likely to have more effect... the spending has to be unsustainable for very long... unless you're the govt with a printing press.
It occurred to me then I flushed it from my mind. I could imagine your local busy body neighbor abusing it, I could see employers abusing it, I could see fathers checking up on their daughters dates, etc, etc.
