MRPC is not dissolved but continues to operate as it pretty much always has, as a private indoor range. Due to the nature of the facility and its location the Club does have certain policies regarding weapons allowed, calibers allowed, guests allowed, etc that are strictly enforced.
Keep an eye out at pawn shops that are also FFL's. They are more interested in turning their inventory and normally will have less invested in the weapon. I picked up a like new Cx4 about a year ago at a pawn shop for $400. One hell of a buy!
R51 still has problems. Mags are poorly designed causing feed issues especially on the first two rounds. Grip safety on the one I had was not made well, would catch hang up and not engage properly.
I too have followed this topic in multiple social media threads. What amazes me is the incredble brilliance of the Founding Fathers to create such a brilliant system that accomplishes exactly what they intended. The system was designed such that it reflects the will of the most populated areas...
AngryRooster I do some of both, but mostly like talking about fine weapons. Joined a couple years ago actually but work and travel have interfered with active participation. Hope the majority of the folks on here are more friendly than the ones over in the troll thread...
I had one and sold it. Even with the piston I didn't like the recoil. But more than that I really disliked the field strip and reassembly on the gun. Check out the new Walther PPS M2. Slightly larger, better recoil, great ergonomics like the ccp.
I've not looked closely at the V2, but I have looked at the SA. For the life of me I have no idea why anyone would design a decocker for a striker fire that totally disables the trigger!
Actually I believe the majority of guns funneling into Chicago are coming from Indiana. Its just that most are coming from all these gun store smash and grabs where the thugs rent an SUV, drive it through the front door at night and load it up.
Check out the Gamo line of single shot pump style pellet rifles. I have the Whisper and the grandkids love shooting it. Nice and quiet too so the neighbors don't get upset.
Keep in mind UPS and FedEx generally include some amount of insurance as a part of shipping. Ask them what that coverage is then buy additional insurance if desired to cover your shipment. In case of loss you will only be paid the value of your item, not the full insurance amount.
Neither choice is a bad one. I've shot a couple SW's but wound up with a SP101 Wiley Clapp. I just don't think you can lose on either choice. Now if we are comparing to Charter Arms...
Sub $200 price is obviously being fueled by the release of the new LCP II. Even at sub $200 for the LCP and $300 for the LCP II I advice checking them both out before buying. New trigger is much improved.
Your fifty yard requirement makes it tough. .22 pistols with barrels that in the 2 inch range are not going to be that accurate. You can hit a bear with them, but don't expect to hit a squirrel at that distance. Comments on the longer barreled Rugers are good. The newer Mark IV's are great but...
All the advice I'm seeing is accurate, but I'd talk to Wilson and see what they recommend. They may be able to send you a prepaid shipping label at their preferred rate. Might save you a couple bucks.
