Ruger Mark 4 I bought in October with added wood grips I picked up from Zackcz.
Gun came with good Tandemkross grips but I really wanted these wood grips when I first saw them. :wow:

Shooting at 3/4" blue squares I put on the back of a used target.
Forgot to bring fresh .22LR targets. :ugh:
Resting not just my hands, but the barrel as well. :dunno:
This tightened up the groups from 2-4" to the 3/4" blue square.
    Used Aguila SE ammo.
Range 12.15.2023 .75in squares & barrel on rest.jpg pic with added wood grips left side wSlide pulled back.jpg pic right side.jpg

It was great getting back to my beloved 22LRs with 270 rounds.
Been sidetracked lately having too much fun with CZ 9mm pistols and a 22LR rifle.

    Today:
    - SW 41 (1980s) Didn't fire it much b/c I was getting light strikes half the time.
It probably just needs cleaning with the firing pin channel gunked up??
Oct. 2018, I had the firing pin and extractor replaced, but don't remember if the firing pin spring was replaced.
I've had it longer than any other gun, but since I bought the 2021 model, I plan to sell the 1980s model after I have my fun of having both.
I've got too many other older target guns presently. :lmfao:
    - SW 41 (2021)
    - Hi-Standard Victor Military (early/mid 70s)
    - SW 2214 3" (422 variant, 1987 to 1996)
    - Beretta Bobcat tip-up barrel
Note: Didn't have had the Colt Woodsman Match Target, Gen 3, 1973, with me b/c it's in Greenfield at Highsmith guns repairing the rear sight (windage screw broke).

    SW 41/2021 shot well today.
Need to use the 1" rifle targets since 1.75" too easy.
    Range 12.22.2023 21 & 30 & 45ft & pic left side wScope.jpg

Was adjusting windage & elevation entire time.
    Almost there.
    Range 12.22.2023 wIron sights 21 ft 90 & 95%.jpg

    Hi-Standard Victor Military
pic 12.22.2023 left side at range.jpg pic 12.22.2023 right side at range.jpg pic 12.22.2023 top rear wSights at range.jpg

    SW 2214 3" barrel.
    15' 1st row
    21' 2nd row
    30' 3rd row
Note: Specs say this is an 8 rd gun, but, both magazines only took 7 rds.
    Range 12.22.2023 3.75in Cir & 15ft, 21ft & 30ft.jpg pic right side.jpg

Bobcat .22LR, mislabeled Tomcat the target. (Bobcat is the .32 acp :ugh:)
With fixed sights, POI is left & a little low.
I tried to use my KY windage skills to center rounds.
Note: 7 round magazines. 8 rds will fit in magazine, but magazine won't seat in frame.
    Range 12.22.2023 15 & 21ft with pic left side.jpg

1st time to the range in a month due to wife breaking her right upper femur. :(
Long recovery time but she is moving a little better than 25 days ago (baby steps), and we are grateful.

    2 guns today:
    - Colt Woodsman Match Target Gen 3, 1973.
1st time at range after a rear sight rebuild at Highsmith Guns in Greenfield.
    The windage screw had broken.
They also went through the gun and they said everything looked good, which is peace of mind when owning an older gun.
    - High Standard "The Victor" Military model, early-mid 1970s.
Not had any issue with this H.S. that was bought from a collector.

Both were picked up last summer when they came across my path unexpectedly.
I'd always wanted a High Standard after shooting a couple of pistols belonging to a member .
This "The Victor" model was bought from a collector.

Never dreamed of running across a Colt Woodsman.
I had a chance to buy both of these after shooting them for a function check, so I couldn't pass up that opportunity.
I didn't intend to keep both since I'm a little top-heavy with older Competition pistols.
I decided today I'll sell the Colt Woodsman & keep the High-Standard since I like shooting the H.S. more.
I already had an 1980s Smith 41 & then updated to a "new" 2021 model this past summer.
But, that will be another story.
This is what I love to do with the hobby. :rockwoot:

This target below is labeled WRONG. :wallbash:

Now 2 targets for the Colt Woodsman.
1 of 2 here were the 1st rounds after rebuild of the rear sight.
I was adjusting mostly windage (b/c POI was far right), with some elevation elevation adjustments.

I will enjoy my journey with the metal classics. :rockwoot:
Someone has to bring you back down to earth instead of the usual “beautiful gun” blah blah blah

The one that is going to shoot the best out of your metal ones will be the one you spend the most time shooting and limiting the amount of sight adjustments

Finally got to take the Ruger Charger 8" to the range.
Been slowed down being nurse's aide to the wife & domestic household duties since she broke her upper femur before Xmas.

    135 rounds total today:
    - 55 rds practice on another target, many to adjust red dot.

Below today's target is a previous one from last September using 2 different 10" Chargers:
    - same target
    - same distance
    - different ammo
    - same-ish results
It will be fun on the same day shooting both the the wood 10" I still have, against the black polymer 8" I recently bought.
    I'll use the 1" circles at 30', 45' and maybe 75"!

    80 rds at 30' & 45' on 1.75" circles.
    Used Federal AutoMatch bulk ammo.
I was pleased that I had 7/16 cloverleafs.
This is one of those guns I need to use the rifle 1" circles.

Having an accuracy shoot off between two guns is always fun to me. I shot my 10" KIDD barreled Charger against my 10" TC 22lr match last year at 25 yards to get things started but never followed up on later range sessions. Also have a 10" Ruger MKII but don't have an extra scope to match the power range of the scopes on the Charger and TC.

You are living my dream!

Not only do you have an accurate Charger, it's been upgraded with a Kidd barrel. :rockwoot:

I didn't get a TC 22LR until a few months ago & haven't really put it to a head to head test with others yet myself.
I've never found the Ruger Mark series to be that accurate, just average, but a Mark 2 10" with a scope could change that, haha!

I have had two Mark 3s. One had a little upgrade & was good, the other was fantastic shooting as good as the best I had at the time.
I should have kept it, didn't really know how fortunate I was at the time & traded it off for another gun.

I had $650 in it, the most I had in any gun at the time except a Smith 41.
I didn't think I needed but one "best" shooter. :wallbash:
How so totally wrong I was. :crying:
Now I have multiples with more than that invested.

I am going to sell the Colt Woodsman in my efforts to trim back my group of "best" shooters, since I like my Hi-Standard The Victor Military better, just for beginners.
Doesn't sound like I've learned my lesson.
Had to try out the famous Colt Woodsman, though!

They are beautiful guns though. And for the blah blah guns are alot like women.
Some are smart as hell have great jobs and check all the boxes but they are built like a 2x4 and just plain Jane as hell. And when you bring them out no one says wow....Nice.....

Then some may not be perfect in every way but they are stunning and come from a different time and attitude and you friends see them and think....Now thats what I want. A peice of art that still get the job done reasonably well.

More to the hobby than perfect groups from a .22

As for your last sentence, not for me.
For my 22 LR Range guns,
    the better accuracy,
    the better enjoyment.

Isn’t your favorite part of hobby clearing malfunctions from sw41’s :dunno:
Last time I shot the 1980s Smith 41,
I did have some intermittent extremely light strikes.
That's why I immediately took it out to Highsmith Guns in Greenfield to have the gun completely checked, suspecting the firing pin & spring.

Did they get it sorted out? Highsmith is one of the best shops around. IMHO

Out of all the 22lr pistols/revolvers you have shot which are the top 5 most accurate you have shot?
I'd have to check alot of targets to find that out.
Off the top of my head it would be from this list below.
Sorry, not only 5, but I'll get there eventually, haha!
There are some that should be here that I let get away, like a Ruger Mark 3 upgraded.

    Not in any particular order:

    Surprised me too!
Zackcz made me take one he had to the range b/c I didn't have any respect for the Kel-Tec, haha!
I ended up buying his & haven't let it go since it shot so well.
I didn't have much respect for them.as well. Their 22lr handguns. This changes my mind.
