    OK.

    In keeping with INGO SOP............

I'm morally outraged and all the previous posters in this thread (except me, of course) are tinfoil hat wearing complete lunatics who support Ron Paul and won't drive through Beech Grove on 1st St. (AKA Emerson Av.) because they're sure they'll be teleported into the railyard and spend the rest of their lives doing whatever all the other detainees are doing in there.

No doubt the OP is Eric Holder's brother-in-law and a BATFE spy sent here to find out who has what guns.

BTW, I lied in my previous post! ;)

    Oh yeah...........Just sayin'!

If we are grabbing war guns I need to modify my list. Actually if its war guns i have a few more purchases to make to build a good list.

First off i would like to quote my original post

I'm new to this forum so i would like to say i'm sorry for all the "MORAL OUTRAGE" that i may have caused by posting this, i guess Controversial subject. I joined under the impression that this forum was for people from Indiana that have a passion for firearms and like to discuss, share there opinion, there knowledge and experiences with others about firearms.

LoL, you'll quickly realize that we're all about the moral outrage on INGO. In our defense, it's because of the passion. We are passionate about our firearms (and politics, oh, the politics) and that makes us behave like children (not excluding myself here).

Anyway, throw some elbows, bang back and join in.

    Personally, I like your 5. I'm 5 for 5.

Mostly, I'm just grateful that you didn't mention those exploding tupperware pieces of crap known as Glocks. That would have really brought out the jerks.

LOL, gotta, love the moral outrage! no offense OP, but you need to lighten up a bit... I've been there, I've over-reacted at times... you learn to get a thick skin, or you drive yourself to the ER with heart attack symptoms... either way, eventually you will lighten up :D

Life is too short, and there are too many guns to shoot! :rockwoot:

    Here and There
This is a good list, and nearly perfectly matches the "prepper's playbook" where things are boiled down to multi-use items and commonality.

    1. Defensive Pistol, 9mm caliber or larger, and not a pocket gun.
    2. Defensive/multi-use shotgun. Things like 870 combos or guns with swappable chokes.
    3. .22LR rifle for small game hunting and practice.
    4. Centerfire, magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle for defense and hunting. The 5.56 vs. 7.62 debate can be held elsewhere, this list ain't the place for it.
    5. (optional) long range, large caliber bolt gun.

For the record, my tally on the above is more than 1 and less than 5. :shady:

    OK, I'll play.

    1. Defensive Pistol, 9mm caliber or larger, and not a pocket gun.
Ruger P95DC and P89DC with night sights and 17 round MecGar mags (and some aftermarket 20 and 32 round mags)

    2. Defensive/multi-use shotgun.
    Mossberg 500A and Maverick 88

    3. .22LR rifle for small game hunting and practice.
AR7, though may be in the market for a 10/22 soon

    4. Centerfire, magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle for defense and hunting.
M70AB2 and a WASR or two, plus an SKS

    5. (optional) long range, large caliber bolt gun.
    Several Mosins and a CETME

#1 SIG P220 .45 ACP (Main sidearm) Smooth shooter, but low cap mags.
#2 Glock 22 .40 Cal (Back up) Getting a G21 soon so all pistol ammo is the same.
#3 Custom Rossi .223 (Long range) Also fires 5.56, for accuracy at farther distances.
#4 Charles Daly SA 20g (Shotty) It's light, reliable, and cheap.
#5 AK w/ BF stock (last ditch) Still have to get this one.

Me thinks one needs to open the ultra secret INGO safe and get out and post the ultra secret INGO "Thicker Skin Cream" recipe for those that have yet to see it and mix some up !!!

    I said 5 but i couldn't live without my Lever gun (Marlin 1894c 38/.357)

That is a pretty good place to start. I would say number 5 could also be a SKS.

Like I often say, the right tools for the right job.

    1. multi-use repeating shotgun - Mossberg 500

    2. rimfire varmint, target, practice gun - Henry .22 lever

    3. large caliber hunting pistol - still working on this one

    4. center fire personal sidearm - 1911 .45 or concealed .380

    5. long range bolt action - Mosin Nagant

It's also a good idea to be well-versed in the basics and keep a muzzleloader around

Not trying to be argumentative, but do you really think a muzzle loader is still relevant? I know a lot of people use them for hunting still, but personally I would never consider one for a SHTF, or necessity weapon. All of the others have a specific use, and having one of each (hand gun, small caliber rifle, large caliber rifle, and shotgun) I just can't see a need for it. Seems like more of a hinderance, kind of like adding a recurve bow to the list. *shrug*

Muzzle loader? Wouldn't be my go-to, certainly, as long as I had some brass, but think; you can cast some wheel weights, make up some powder, put some lead downrange with no technology. You'll be the one with meat in your diet, the one that doesn't get raided. Have one. Practice. Be ready. For anything.

And I thought the 5 basics were
    Rimfire
    1. Revolver
    2. Pistol
    3. Bolt-action
    4. Lever-action
    5. Auto-loader
    Center fire
    1. Revolver
    2. Pistol
    3. Bolt-action
    4. Lever-action
    5. Auto-loader
    Shotgun
    1. Pump
    2. Auto-loader
    3. Side by side
    4. Over/under
    5. ??

Ok, I'm unsure of #5 for shotguns, maybe a lever action or revolving shotgun but those are tougher to find. Once you get the basics then you get different variations of the basics.
