I like the "golf bag" analogy. I'm gonna have to work hard to justify an 8.5 iron though :). Sometimes rifles have a very exact niche right? Haha

I think the OPs list is pretty good actually. Maybe not exactly what I would choose but pretty darn good.

I like the golf bag analogy, but the problem is I don't carry a driver in mine. I play the entire course with 5-9 irons and a wedge. Of course I am as much a golf pro as I am a tactical operator.

    My List:

    1) .22 LR Rifle
    2) .22 Pistol
    3) 12 or 20 guage shotgun suitable for sporting purposes (Hunting/Clays)
    4) Centerfire Handgun suitable for Self Defense/Concealed Carry
    5) Long Gun suitable for Self Defense (this could include another barrel for the shotgun)

IMO a person could really get by with 3 guns if push comes to shove. A .22 for fun/practice, a reliable shotgun with a couple barrels and a good handgun.

I personally have no reason to own a high powered rifle (other then they are a lot of fun). I don't travel out of state to hunt big game and I honestly don't think I will be in a situation where I will be in a standoff against other riflemen over 200 yards away.

I see a lot moral outrage getting stirred up about one group of people telling others what guns they shouldn't own. Despite all this infringement of personal freedom, there's also never a shortage of opinions about what "every gun owner should have." For every guy saying that you NEED to get a Glock, there's another saying that you NEED to get a 1911. What every gun owner should have is whatever they want and nothing else.

I disagree. Every gunowner needs one (maybe two) of everything. Now if I can convince my wife of this philosophy.:D

Fal (combat rifle and 308 so a decent range to it also)
Glock 17 (along with a Keltec Sub2k that takes same magazines)
Mossberg 500 (also have a takedown Stevens 620 that is great for the road)
    Keltec P3AT
10/22 (plus a Marlin Papoose for traveling or hiking)

I like the takedown versions for traveling, need to find me a Browning BLR takedown in 308 as a scout rifle.
