Liberalism at it's finest. can't wait till hollywood closes up shop.:ugh:

I agree! A total failure that should have been allowed to die naturally years ago.

HOWEVER: Is Indiana really ALL that much better? Constant layoffs of employees of various government agencies; teacher layoffs; police/fire/dispatcher layoffs or "consolidations" strictly to save money; libraries forced to close branches and cut hours at the remainder; public transportation cut; park cutbacks; etc.

All the while, we jump at the chance to hand tens of millions of dollars over to the Colts and Pacers because those particular millionaires don't want to pay their own bills?

Indiana isn't to the point that California is. YET. But it's not like we can point to how our state government is holding to logic, common sense, or the principles of a republican form of government.

CA is a welfare state. I was stationed there twice while in the military. That state deserves to go down. Maybe it would serve as a lesson to the other states. I don't want to see people suffer but if any state deserves to disintegrate due to financial irresponsibility and social depravity it is most defiantly CA.
I agree completely, but GM and Chrysler deserved to die too. Did they? Or did the administration make up phony reasons to save them?

Both deserved to go under. Propping up private industry that was ruined by incompetence and greed is socialism as far as I'm concerned. I think American industries have been made weak by not being forced to compete. That is the fault of the federal government.

While I would say that the state deserves to descend into chaos for the stupid policies it employs... I'm not cheering for it. And I suspect neither will any of us.

    1) The Feds will almost certainly go the bailout route - that won't be pretty
    2) With the economy in chaos most of our jobs will be in the crapper. be ready for that.
    3) Civil unrest on a scale not seen in a hundred years or more.

In short - if anyone's thinking that it will neatly break off into "Arizona Bay"... might want to think twice.

I don't disagree with the "deserve it" part. I don't even disagree with the possibility of it happening. I totally get those that feel that "stupid should hurt". I agree!
I'm still not cheering. I find that perhaps a bit short-sighted. In any scenario that I can see, there's going to be collateral damage in a big way if this happens. We're gonna be part of that. Can any of you see it differently?

Let's kick them out of the union. That should set a good precedent that could enable us to then get rid of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, most of Georgia (keep enough to be able to get to Florida, West Virginia, Illinois, Michigan, and any other state that ever asks the Feds for assistance. Living in California obviously is a way of willfully giving up the liberties that you are guaranteed by the Constitution so having the military take it back shouldn't be an issue, as has been suggested in this thread.

    Duncan...

I have in the past read your posts and agreed with them. Some have been extraordinarily insightful. I respectfully have to disagree with the above line of thinking. I fear that in time all of us may not be cheering for this.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with the policies in California (and I vehemently DISAGREE with them - and proved so by voting with my feet.) it does us no credit to take pleasure in the suffering of others.
    We are better than that.

    Mr Programmer .
You have been respectful to me in your opinions and retorts .
    Thank you .
I was going to comment on your first post .. and then I thought well he has an emotional tie to Cali . If I engage ? ...

Let me throw this out there in no particular order .

Will I get joy out of what I " think " will happen in Cali . -- no .
Will I get a certain amount of humor out of it - yes .
    Macabre / grim / black humor - yes .

The people of Calif , as a whole , for decades have enjoyed one of the best economic , geographical diverse , weather induced life styles of the country .
For that matter the world . ( I have been to Calif . a few times , I love to drive through the Mohave Dessert in a convertible . )

These people took a home made apple pie then when to an out house to eat it .
The greed , apathy goofy ideas and lack of historical and state pride let slip away what many had worked for it . Including those that have worked hard .
This situation did not come up over night . They have had a long time to get it in line... they did not and many have aggravated it with more burden upon themselves .

Now I know you have people close to you out there and when a person has set down roots it is hard to pull up ... but you did , For what ever reason .
I will assume that you have tried to convince them to get out of a burning house .. to be blunt .. if they don't want to , for what ever reason .. then let them burn alive .
    It's their choice .
If they have good reasons to stay .. fine ... if they know the house is on fire and want to sit in the living room .. well that is the natural selection process at work - the dumb die early .

They have 49 other states to go to and still be Americans .
Now they may not be able to from an economic stand point .
I have no idea what their circumstances may be .

But we both know many have fled . The growth in Phoenix , Bullhead City , Laughlin , Vegas are proof
of the refugees that have fled Calif.

As far as the pictorial and youtube posts I just put up this AM .
Yeah --some of my dark humor .

If it happens will I get " Pleasure " out of it ? Let me think .

I don't know if I would or not .. I do think so , it would be a certain amount of justice or , " you got want you asked for " From the aspect that if you know , or should know , flame is hot and you touch it ....

Maybe righteous indignation would be a closer definition of what I might feel .
Righteous indignation | Define Righteous indignation at Dictionary.com

The problems in Calif by and large don't effect me . I don't live there and for the most part I don't care about those people . I don't know them , they are not personal to me .
Let me expound , and for the others that have taken the time to read our correspondence think about this .
I don't lose one minute of sleep . I am not upset enough to miss a meal , I have not anguish over their problems or suffering and I bet most of the people reading this do not either .
Nor will I if riots break out over there .
I have my own problems to worry about right here in Indiana .

Other than their economic problems will and do affect me and you with the system we have in place as far as the US Government pouring money into their collective rat hole .

I think it's some of what the Governor of California once said is part of the problem .

    Thanks

There used to be a saying; something to the effect of "As GM goes, so goes the Country".

The economy of just the State of California alone is one of the largest on the planet. Yes, they're screwed up in the majority of our eyes.

But California's economy (their goods & services) are used by every single one of us.

Think it's bad around Indiana now? If California has it's own meltdown (literal, instead of on paper), it'll make the last 3 years seem like the good ol' days.

As California goes, so goes the Country...

i also want to remind everyone that conservative heaven texas has a massive budget deficit of about 25 billion

seems like nobody wants to end the drug war to make life easier on taxpayers... cops,,,like all government employees,,,are a powerful lobby,,,and they dont want to get downsized,,,so government stays too big,,,and we keep paying for stuff that we cant afford and shouldnt be doing...

When I've visited Cali., (lived there for 7 years moved when I was 13) you don't have to go very far out of the metro areas to find conservative, sane, or like minded individuals. Those are the ones I feel most sorry for. Very similar to the situation in Illinois. "Ruled by the Majority". Your only option is to vote with your feet.

California used to produce a lot of our food. But thanks to the liberal bosses out there, they have weaned the country off of California grown food. Remember, irrigating in the central valley area might harm some fricking minnow. So, at least food wise, they can sink into chaos and not affect us nearly as much as it would have a few years back. Thank you liberal masters of California.

The problem is that there will be no super bowl next year due to the lockout (sure we got it, but it won't even happen). To make it worse, the lockout is intentional and there will no longer be an NFL at all, but it is going to be the IFL. Other nations like England are applying for franchises. I believe the lockout is intentionally happening in order to restructure internationally and will destroy football in the long run.

They didn't bail out gm or chrysler because they were to big to fail.and they didn't bail out the financial institutes(housing),or the big banks for that reason either.they bailed out all of these entities to make the government bigger. With the new "food safety bill",and owning a big chunk of housing, automobile industry, banks, food etc. Looks like everything is going as planned.think about it,the government is starting to own everything. Once you own everything. You can do what you want with it.and it is a lot easier to control everyone and everything, when you are the sole provider. I am not real smart, but you can see where it is all going. Just my .02
