Just got my first 1911, now what?

Mine is also SS. Does that fiber optic front sight show up well in daylight conditions? I need to do something.

I just switched from the red filament to the green/yellow one (5 minute job). The red shows up very well in daylight and the other one shows up better.

Am going to buy a standard guide rod (the kind that has worked well for 100 years) after I weigh the thing and see if gun + S&A magwell is ok for IDPA. Might need to look for aluminum.
