That would explain it - I haven't found a productive place for morels since my 1st hunt in the Atlanta State Forest Area in Michigan back when I was in college 40 years ago...

I do believe the ones in the OP's pic are frost burnt. And I don't think that detracts from them.

Well, I only know 2 things about morels:

1.) they're delicious
2.) how to tell the real ones from the false ones

My, Rule of thumb: Every hour drive time south of any point is 1 week. Just somthing I’ve observed myself. Not carved in stone.

Found a mix bag of grays and yellows in southern orange co on Wednesday. About 30.

Woods are awfully dry. This weekend rain should be the ticket for pushing them up. Dogwoods, redbuds are in full bloom, that's usually peak season.

Brother and I found about 10 apiece, St. Joe County

On Friday I checked my usual spots in Bedford. No mushrooms yet, byr I found a really nice deer antler and a 4000 year old Atlatl point (arrowhead to most people)

North Central sector... went out yesterday evening to a usual spot. Nothing, very dry. Upcoming rain hopefully will help.
