I love my job and I encourage anyone who thinks that this may be for them to give it a shot. This process is only open for a short time, as in they are only taking actual applications for less than two weeks. It would be awesome to have a couple INGOers in this process. I had a blast when I went through it.

I'm filling out the application right now, and one question is "I am currently a resident of Indianapolis, Marion County for five (5) or more continuous years immediately prior to date of hire. (IC 36-8-4-2)." I have lived in Indianapolis all of life, other than one year in Brownsburg back in 2008, and Greenwood for a year, last year. Will that exclude me from the hiring process if I mark that no?


For the record, IC 36-8-4-2, states nothing about 5 years other than some departments may require that you live in the county, or adjoining county, until you have reached 5 years of service.

I don't wish I was a fireman, but there have been several times throughout my career where had I known then what I know now I would have never become a cop.
