I don't mix a magazine.
I carry a magazine of HP in my edc, and a spare magazine of HP, and another magazine that has hard cast or fmj bullets in case I need penetration through a hard barrier.

I have been choking down the Federal HST kool-aid for years. I also keep some Speer on hand. There was a ton of research being done back in the day and it was pretty conclusive: they're all gonna do the deed. Some a little better.

Never shot Barnes DPX any good reports on 9mm or 45?

I haven't shot much of the 9mm, but the 45 is fantastic. When I bought my shield, I did a lot of testing with all the major brands because I was worried about expansion out of a short barreled 45. The only loads that consistently expanded on 4 layers of denim was Critical Defense and anything loaded with a Barnes bullet (Barnes, Corbon, and Buffalo Bore). The CD expanded every time, but the expanded projectiles weren't any bigger than expanded 9mm. The Barnes, on the other hand, were HUGE and consistently gave around 12" of penetration also.
