OP I think I have the answer to your question.

This is my Glock 23, which is a great carry gun. My choice since about 2008.

Recently I made the switch to this:

    IMG_20140405_213616_zpse06b60de.jpg

Smith & Wesson 1911. Commander sized (4.25" barrel) and roundbutt. It conceals better then the Glock 23 and is a bit more accurate. Of course I have to suffer with 8 rounds of .45 instead of 14 rounds of .40. Overall I am happy with the transition. Given a choice I would love for this particular gun to be chambered in 9mm. A lightweight roundbutt commander 1911 with 10 rounds of 9mm would be just the ticket for me!

Hey I recognize where you are. That is my favorite gun shop. Oh and get your grubby hands off my gun! :): I wish I could pony up for another 1911 like that one.

I recognize & enjoy that shop, too... I'm sure they'll sell you another 1911 when you learn to shoot what you already own.

I believe the P250 has had problems

Every gun has had problems, especially in the day of the Internet. A buddy of mine recently bought one, and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Your odds of getting a lemon are pretty danged low.

The only problem is finding one. I settled for the 9 and have ordered a full size .45, exchange kit. They do have a nice natural and balanced feel. The P250 gets little respect, its a sleeper and well worth it. It take a little getting used to if you have never packed a full size or compact.

I carry a Taurus 24/7 pro compact in .45ACP. It has been a very good gun and I don't have any complaints other than I think I paid a little too much for it when I bought it 2 years ago.

I carry a full-sized 1911. If want to go mid-sized one day, I'll go to a Commander. If I go down to 9mm again, I'll go with a BHP.

Same here, except the paying too much and my only complaint is the trigger. HATE HATE HATE the feel of the trigger . But it's fairly accurate (for a 3"bbl), goes bang every time, conceals well, is fairly light and carries 11 or 13rds of .45acp.

I'm going to 9mm and 45acp as my two handgun calibers. Doing away with 40 so I can shoot more at more reasonable cost. Since current ccw is a G23 and I'll be selling that, now I'll have to choose between 9 and 45 for ccw. I'm still a little skeptical of stopping power of 9mm despite bullet technology which has gotten a lot better. I'm thinking of sig p220 carry or p227 carry. Any advice on choice of weapon?

SA XDm 3.8 Compact .45ACP. 9 rd mag for CCW and 13 rd mag as backup which also makes it a full size. I also have a Sig P250C in .45ACP that I can't get to shoot where I want it. Must be the DA. I have no problems whatsoever with the XDm. Planning to sell the P250. it has an extra mag too.:patriot:

It's my understanding that the older models had problems but the ones on sale now are problem free.

I have a P250c .45ACP that was manufactured in October 2012 and I can't get it to shoot on target. Sent it back to Sig and they said it was fine. Maybe it's the DA trigger? I don't know honestly. Got the XDm 3.8 Compact in .45ACP and it works flawlessly.

I realize I didn't fully answer the question way back on page 1. My EDC is a 4" Bill Wilson Carry 1911, though lately I've fallen in love with the Commander and will likely be swapping to it.

Heresy! The BWC is the gun he himself carries. Wish I had one myself. A roundbutt commander has been following me around
