    So

Who would push to repeal the Patriot Act and NDAA?
Who would sign a new Assault Weapons Ban?
Who would push to repeal RomBamaCare?

Romney certainly won't! Past performance is a good predictor of future behavior in this case. Romney is a RINO who will promise conservative action and govern progressive.

Thank you for the clarification of your point. I should not assume all gun rights advocates are NRA members.

And, to the point of this post - whomever is elected will likely not be as bad as the opposing side warns and will not be as good as the victorious side promises. Neither of the 2 contenders have the strength to do what is needed. None of the pretenders will have the opportunity.

Well, I don't have a say at all in what this country does. So I'll just sit back and watch while the rights that I don't even have yet get destroyed. Have fun reelecting obama

In 8 years, you'll have 1/1,000,000th more say than you do right now.

I would rather David Carradine myself in the closet than vote for RomBama. Every Republican I've ever voted for has screwed me over one way or another. So **** them.

    Romney is a "conservative candidate"?

I went to dinner with a life long friend tonight. I told him and he was pretty surprised. He kept asking me why and I told him that I just couldn't vote for Romney. He hit me with several arguments such as Johnson can't win, a vote for Johnson is a vote for Obama yadda yadda yadda. I told him I was secure in my decision and that I felt good about it. He said he has time to change my mind. I don't see it happening.

Its not his job to change your mind, he's going about it all wrong. He should let you know why he thinks Romney is a better pick and let you change your mind on your own, IF you agree.

Conversely, you should tell him why Johnson is a better pick, and let him determine if he wants to change his mind.

With a decision like this with so many variables, there is no right or wrong answer.

You are going to be a very wise older voter (I got the impresion from other posts that you were a young man)
I would hope that you write down what you think romney will or won't do to your/our liberty. (ie gun laws, government health care, borrowing, national debt, and so on) Then watch very closely what happens if he gets elected.

Do not listen to excuses, or Rushes or fox news or any other "conservative" talking heads opinoin about why he had to pass something or another legislation (bush had to wreck the free market to save it). Because they will mostly favor/defend the republican politician. Words can be very deceptive. Actions, not words. If, on the off chance that Romney gets elected. Which is not likely based on his previous actions.

Romney would be a idiot to go up against the NRA in his 1st term. We will hopefully have a better candidate by his 2nd

Yeah, because there's no way Romney goes against the NRA on what he may consider "common sense restrictions" if it was politically expedient. You are deluding yourself if you think he wouldn't take away or restrict gun owners' rights. I mean, what would you do in the 2016 presidential auction if he did go against the NRA on assault weapons, vote Democrat or "waste your vote" on a Libertarian?

There is no way Republicans or Democrats will go through another primary like this years if they control the presidency. So if course, even if he does restrict rights, by your "electability" criteria he will still have your vote. Of course, we'll still have the TSA, Patriot Act, and intrusions into our personal lives, whether it be whether or not we own guns, or have health insurance, or watch midget porn on our computer . You find me a Republican who will get rid of the TSA, repeal the Patriot Act, and understand that the Federal government has NO F---ING BUSINESS BEING INVOLVED IN AMERICAN'S PERSONAL LIVES AS LONG AS THEY'RE NOT HURTING OTHERS and I'll vote for him or her. Until then, I'm sticking with Gary Johnson.

Libertarian's don't get enough of the vote to win a presidential race. And when I hear my Libertarian friends tell me "with people thinking like you they won't" I say I can vote Libertarian and then see Obama win.

To be honest, I don't like Romney. I will have a hard time voting for him. I see no stand out in any of the parties! I have never voted a straight ticket because I don't believe any party has all the answers. And that is a sure fact this time around! What a mess...

I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that if every single republican voter that felt this way would pull the L lever, Johnson would be our next President.
