My problem is, besides rights, is that the officer will ASSUME, "ok, now I have his gun".
But what about the one on the ankle, and the one in the glove compartment?
He sets himself up in a dangerous situation.
Do criminals only carry 1 gun?
Are we oddities because we lawfully carry?
And how many people here have been swept by an officer attempting to unload the gun?
I seem to remember a few stories here on INGO.
I would think if there was an "articulable reason", such as verbal threats, intimidation, etc., the officer would take the gun, handcuff you, and keep you in sight.
But take a gun, then turn his back on someone....... and that's for "officer safety"?
