at a cost of losing alot of money from people and orgnizations that would normaly spend money dowtown.

The black expo is here to make the black reverends happy.

What other city event has is such a drain on the city resources?

Houston, Missouri, Sacremento, Okland, Ohio, Virginia all have black expo. Some individual states have black buisness expo. The expo here in indiana just happens to be the biggest and longest running one in the US.

Indiana Black Expo is a non for-profit organization headquartered in Indianapolis,IN that is responsible for overseeing the state's two largest cultural events: the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration, and the circle city classic.

The Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration is the largest ethnic/cultural event in the United States. This ten-day event, held in the Indiana convention center as well as various places around Indianapolis, draws African-Americans to Indianapolis from both around the state and around the country. Organized in 1970, the Black Expo has provided networking, educational, career, and cultural opportunites for its guests. Participation at the 2006 Summer Celebration reached record highs, with over 350,000 in attendance.

Since 1983, Indiana Black Expo has hosted the circle city classic, a two-day event held the first weekend in October which includes a parade as well as its main attraction, a college football game held between two historically black colleges and universities (hbcu's)

    Where's the bacon?
The issue here is not that it's "Indiana Black Expo". The issue here is that the PEOPLE (who happen to have darker skin) who go to it (edit: seem to) have zero respect for anyone other than themselves and whether or not they do for themselves is debatable.

I think that if there was an "Indiana White Expo", we'd see the same thing.

I think they go to this event because there is no "Indiana Criminal M*****F***** Expo"...

After all, can you imagine how hard that would be to get on a license plate?

As a whole what I have seen it is a very disrespectful crowd in the evening.Maybe the ones that go to the day time events are the good quality people.

The ones out at night are a disgrace to the black community.(because thats who they are representing when they come to our city)

From the disregard to traffic control signals, Porn playing in the car tvs that are clearly visible to the general public, blatant littering, pretty much the general disregard to society's standards that we have set in our city.

I'm saying that the people who go to IBE seem to have zero respect for others and/or themselves. It is an unrelated fact that the aforementioned peoples' skin happens to be darker than mine. (I should have said "Seem to" before, but I did not. I'll edit it.

    Blessings,

Wow, just read through this whole thing... who knew? I guess just you folks down there on the firing line.

    BOR, just one comment on
I think that if there was an "Indiana White Expo", we'd see the same thing.

One, that would never be allowed to happen as it would be racist by definition.

Two, how many basically all white events are held all the time downtown with no violence whatsoever? I have attended industry conventions in my line of work down there before. There would have been with spouses a couple thousand people and I don't think minorities wold make up 1% of attendees. I think one guy got picked up DUI one year. That was about it.

is it possible that the difference between those events is socio-economics and education rather than race?

    Isnt that the same thing?

perhaps i read the statement wrong, but the implication was that being black was the cause of the problem. from there one can extrapolate that a group of black businessmen would devolve into the same type of behavior that occurs at the IBE simply because they were black.

    if i misunderstood, i apologize.

I heard Saturday night at 10:00 pm king samir shabazz of the black panthers will give a lecture on the proper way to kill the cracker babies.

I am going to StubHub now to see if I can get tickets. :yesway:

I can't stand crackers either. I prefer potato chips and/or doritos.

IIRC the FFA Nationals in October is the top or only second to GenCon in Revenue for Indpls for conventions held. And I know from working downtown on the EMS side that neither of these two events raise violent crime during their weeks stay... at least on the Fire/EMS side.

However every year I work downtown during the weekend of BE it seems to trend a significant increase in EMS/Fire response for Assaults/Trauma; person shot; person stab.

This is not my opinion, simply just trending the last 10yrs.
