      Deer hunting 2018 thread

Haven't seen a thread started yet. Cold weather coming have anyone else excited? I haven't had much time to get ready but I'll at least get out Sunday. Good luck.

Anyone else here camp with horses?

My horse trailer is de-winterized and cleaned up. Horses are shod. Got some clothes and groceries packed. I'm Brown County bound this weekend. Anyone else here do any trail riding? I usually just go to Brown County but have been a few other places. I've been thinking about checking out...

Did Obama ever get criticized from liberal groups

I've been part of INGO for several years but mostly for the guns and outdoors stuff. Forgive me if some of my comments/questions in the political department are redundant. I have very conservative values and have recently enjoyed expressing them here. I've never subscribed to facebook...

Hypocrisy on the Stormy Daniels front

Ok. So our President may or may not have had consensual sex with a porn star over 10 years ago. Giving what former President Bill has done seems like not a big deal. Alleged forced sex, sequestering testimony, etc. If it did happen, when he was a private citizen, isn't that between him and...

Took a kid shooting today...and it felt good

My wife asked me last week if I would take her co-worker's son shooting today. It is his 16th B-Day and he had never shot a gun. All he wanted for his Bday was to shoot a gun. His Mom asked my wife if she knew of any gun ranges nearby and my wife volunteered mine. Not knowing what to expect...

      WTB: Decent AR15

Been shooting guns all my life(I'm old). Never had an AR.. Purposely never shot one. Time to buy an entry level AR in 223. Not going to break the bank. Wanting to have open sights and a scope.

Finally! A round my rifle likes

I bought a used Savage model 16 300 WSM several years ago. I never could get the gun to shoot consistent with any factory ammo. At nearly $2.50 per round, experimenting was getting expensive. That's when I decided to start handloading. Over the years I've upgraded the stock, rings/base, and...

      Grandsons new rifle

My Grandson has a 410, a red ryder, and has shot a couple of my rimfires. I got him his first rifle. It's a Crickett 22 and I'm impressed so far. They come with a nice peep sight from the factory. It will need some fine tuning but he was hitting 2" targets out of the box. He wants it scoped...

      My 2015 buck

I have only been able to get out 3 times due to work constraints. Missed a doe on my first outing. Then this guy walked by after I had packed up and was getting ready to climb down for lunch. Grabbed my bow, nocked an arrow, then had to yell at him to stop. 15 yd chip shot. All happened in...

Going to have a quail buffer at my hunting spot.

As the title states I just found out that the property I hunt is going to have quail buffers around the edges of the woods where the cropland meets the woods line. This means there will be a 60 ft. "buffer" between the woods and the crops. There will be a total of 6 acres, including a 2 acre...

      Found my first shed today

I was out riding my 4 wheeler today and found this on top of the snow. Followed the tracks and kicked up the buck but never found the match. Anyone else finding sheds yet?

Looking to upgrade to an automatic clay pigeon thrower

As the title says I'm looking to purchase an automatic clay target thrower. I'm trying to keep the budget around the $400 range. Anybody have any good/bad experiences. I'm looking at the champion and do all brands so far. Let me know what you guys like/dislike. Thanks

      Wife bought a keurig...and I'm a junkie

My wife bought one of them there fancy keurig coffee/tea/hot cocoa makers a week ago. I told her it was a waste of money as I always drank the cheapest coffee around. Well I threw away my old, cheap, dirty old friend today. I'm loving this new thing. I've found myself having a cup of coffee at...

      Rifle sling with ammo loops

I've been casually searching for a good hunting sling with ammo loops. Can't really find anything I like that well. I really want ammo loops as my rifle only holds 2 in the blind mag and I put a thumbhole stock on it so a stockpack isn't an option. Anyone have any suggestions? :ingo:

      Dusting off my reloading bench

It's been a while since I've reloaded any ammo. Not since last winter. I made some coyote loads(243 58gr vmax 44gr varget), Worked up a couple of 300wsm test loads and filled some 38 special and 357 mag requests for a buddy. I haven't tried to buy any supplies for a couple of years and was...

      Anyone reloading 300 wsm?

I've got a savage model 16 in 300 wsm. I've tinkered around with a few loads for this gun but never could get good accuracy. I've since replaced the stock and scope and mounting. Looking to start all over. I've got quite a bit of h414 as it "works for all of my calibers. What kind of powders are...

      Scope ring lapping?

I have always mounted and sighted in my own rifles. Generally just "eyeball" my scope alignment. I'm currently putting together a rifle for hunting out west. I'm using a scope with windage dots so i feel like alignment is pretty critical. Is buying an alignment/lapping kit worth it or just a...

      Richards microfit stocks

Anyone have any experience with Richards Microfit stocks? I'm looking at a dual purpose thumbhole for a 300 wsm hunting rifle for out west. Fit and finish. Trying to decide between that and a boyds featherweight thumbhole. I've held and shot the boyds stock but the microfit really appeals to me...

      Turkey sighting tonite

Just got back from a trip thru the woods on my atv. Kicked up 4 hens and a jake. Turkey sightings have been increasing on my property over the last few years. Haven't hunted them here yet but it's getting tougher not to do. Might be time to get the bow out and shoot some practice arrows. :):
