ive fired my gun three times w/o protection...inside? your ears will ring for a day or so, outside?...not that much more than a really loud firecracker inmho...
if you want a pistol close to 3 bones that is reliable and accurate get a ruger p95...yea you wont be able to slip it into your pocket and impress your friends but if you can shoot it will perform...youre right a cheap gun doesnt have to be a crap gun but most cheap guns are cheap because they...
has your research taken you anywhere around terminal ballistics yet?..cause the 9mm with either heavy loads around 1000fps or the lighter (124g) at +p loadings come in around 1200-1280 both put down about the same impact as a 180g 40...45s are the only choice if 9mm is too small...the 40 cal is...
and always remember if you are going to try and do it yourself to only sand in the direction that the rounds feed..if you try and sand in the opposite direction you will wind up with worse problems than you currently have.
this is how i approach this situation which has happened more than once...it all depends on how you feel and where your valuables are located...i was injured at the workplace so i had to move back in with my mother (im 26), not in the event of a home invasion, i could give two poos about the tv...
just for clearing things up, the sr9's don't have "random failures" they had a specific barrel peening issues that was fixed after the first gen. other than that they aren't known for failures, some have said it does have a distinct break in period of about 200-300 rounds..(which, really, is a...

btw, Ruger is not done with 2011..for Christ's sake it's only the beginning of January..Ruger has all but confirmed a 1911 if you know where to look...give them a month or two then check the headlines...
but if you STUDY terminal ballistics, the 45 has a HIGHER energy transfer rate, which is MUCH more important than muzzle velocity...don't jump on someone when they are correct bud....cheers
so if a 230g 45 is traveling @ 850fps vs a 165g 40 @ 990-1000, the 45 is going to deliver more felt...
i hate to say it but the Ruger P345 is not a very reliable gun...but the P90 is king! simple 1911 style operation, 4.5 inch barrel and Ruger's only model with a metal frame (one model has steel, the other aluminum)...ultra reliable and poa accuracy....it sells for about 100$ more than the 345...
